I texted my wildlife rehabbing friend about a raccoon at my door eating the cat's food on my porch, during the daytime hours. I kept referring to her as "he." She corrected me and reminded me that's a momma raccoon hunting for food during the risky daytime hours while her babies sleep. It's risky because ignorant people freak out seeing nocturnal animals during the day. People panic and scream "RABIES!"
She DOESN'T have rabies but when their babies are young she has to take her chances and hunt during the day.
That was over a week ago. This evening she came back and brought the kids (all 5).
They shared a bowl of cat food then dined on a bowl of trail mix (peanuts, almonds, raisins and M&Ms).
Surprisingly, they get along with the cat's!
Isaiah is fulfilled at my house
The house cat also shall dwell with the raccoon, and the squirrel shall lie down with the fox; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and an old guy shall lead them.
the night time picture doesn't do them justice. They are the cutest little guys you've ever seen.
