187 year old thomas jefferson taken down in ny

Have people no respect for the people who founded the country?

If it weren't for men like Jefferson these woke ass numbskulls wouldn't have a country like ours that allows them to sit around and want statues torn down.

If a statue of a man from 200 years ago is your biggest concern in life you should be happy because you have no real problems.

What is amazing people look at the past with the mindset of today and not reflecting on the harsh reality of that day…

Was Slavery wrong?

Yes, but let not kid ourselves with the notion slavery is dead in our today time because it live strong and well in today time, so why must we erase a man because of what he did hundreds of years ago?

Fact is Thomas Jefferson along with many Founding Father’s contributed to our great nation and we as a society grew from it, so in my opinion it is disgusting that today society will now erase a man because of what he did when it was part of life back then…

Thanks, Mad Jack for saying something intelligent enough to be worth responding to. The tragedy of judging a man-- an historical man of the 18th century by the societal standards of more than two centuries later by people who cannot even begin to fathom much less would be able to survive themselves in the 1700s cannot be overstated, except to point out the many things going on today that will be scorned 250 years into OUR future, that we should be so eager to callously throw away such a vital part of our own history of where we are and how we got here.

[John Chapter 8 ] The scribes and Pharisees, brought Thomas Jefferson to Jesus and said, “Teacher, this man was caught in the act of having slaves. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such a man. So what do You say?”…When they continued to question Him, Jesus straightened up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin be the first to cast a stone.” When they heard this, the unhinged sanctimonious liberals began to go away one by one… <<< (Well, one can only hope.)
Beautiful! Perhaps Progressives should learn from this. Sadly they will not learn...

This is more then just race issue. It is a question related to my username. Is Ethics Relative or Absolute?

~~~~~~
When Democrats speak of slavery they always refer to it based upon the South. They seem to forget that it was endemic throughout the colonies and after the revolution.
Taking the holier than thou attitude and applying today morality is hypocritical to look back upon what was the norm one hundred years ago.
Then when one take a close look happening today in America, people should stop and look at the ethics, morals and extreme hypocrisy allowing illegal aliens into America as slaves and chattels of the Cartels and their human trafficking being brought into the U.S. on a daily basis thanks to the Progressive Marxist/DSA Democrats.
you are so right
Slavery of Blacks in America was the best of times for the very few intelligent Blacks and the worst of times for the typical low IQ Black. Post "civil rights" whatever that means, Blacks have been getting increasingly dumber and more violent. Some of this has to do with breeding patterns in White taxpayer paid for housing projects in which a dominant Black male of low IQ breeds with dozens of Black females of similarly low IQ, and the resulting really dumb offspring are all paid for by White insurance payers. Imagine if a Black female actually had to pay medical bills for the birthing process over $10,000 now apparently.
That is a gross a tragic decision by DE Blasio.
Hmm I wonder before he leaves will he also remove the bronze statue of George Washington put up on the Sub-Treasury’s ceremonial front steps at Broad and Wall St placed there 1842 by John Quincy Adams to commemorate the inauguration of George Washington our first president. Whom by the way also owned slaves...
Ref: George Washington’s Biracial Family Is Getting New Recognition.
I often heard that the quote “George Washington is the father of our country” was true in more than one way.
people are so ignorant about our history and have only one-deminsional minds.
The really funny thing?
The same people who took down that statue, and supported taking down that statue......vote for a political party, the democrat party, that was actually created by slave owners....a political party that supported slavery, supported expanding slavery into the new states, and a political party that started the Civil War to keep blacks as slaves.....
They vote for that party at the same time they take down Jefferson's statue...that is how fucking stupid they are....
In Canada, NZ, Australia, and even UK, Human Rights are in much better shape then in USA:
-- people in need get much more help
-- Penal System is much more humane (especially Canada)
Do you realize, you dumb ass...that Australia is putting people with covid into concentration camps? You idiot.
Thomas Jefferson knew Slavery was Evil. Sadly he still practiced Slavery.
Do you vote for the democrat party?
If you do.....you are voting for a political party created by slave owners....a political party that defended slavery....a political party that tried to expand slavery into every new state....a political party that started the Civil War to keep blacks as slaves, a political party that when it lost the war to the Republicans.....enacted the black codes, Jim Crow laws and members of the democrat party created the ku klux klan to terrorize blacks and their republican allies....
And no, the parties did not change sides ...the democrats changed tactics.......not beliefs on racism...
Are you saying this statue is “a vital part of our own history”? Do you think the statue was thrown away?
Jefferson was, most certainly. I see nothing to gain, and quite a bit to lose, by hiding him away.
Let's be clear. There is a broad effort to change the future by changing the past, by changing how the story is told. By manipulating the story to control what people think.
Statues are just metal. It is what they commemorate and signify and teach by being there, by people seeing and looking at them and reading and touching their plaques-- -- -- seeing such a famous and historic figure there large as life and not just words on some webpage.
That's why we have museums and the like to go SEE history, rather than just to read about it in a book somewhere.
