"You can't be a democrat and go to heaven"

yet 99% of America celebrates CHRISTmas.......what a TERRIBLE IMPOSITION.....

anti-God secularists are thin-skinned wimps imposing their minority views on the majority....

It’s as if the Framers wrote the Establishment Clause with you in mind.

and yet Ben Franklin requested prayers at the Constitutional Convention....and George Washington said a prayer at his inauguration....

"Almighty God; We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large.

And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

Washington Inaugural Prayer

You don't have the right to impose your Christian theocracy in the rest of us, see how that works, I don't get to tell you how to live and vice-versa. You would make it a one way street where your values are put first in everything and mine always take a back seat.

Thou shalt not Kill.......it's one of the Ten Commandments......

are you proposing that killing become legal....?

I think people thought killing was bad before it was written in the bible along with most of the other bad things prohibited in the concept called morality. Are you actually arguing that only Christians have morals? You have to be joking.

then why is it you think only secularists should have any input into our laws.....?

America needs more secular sanity. Living a life based on one book written by ancient and superstitious goat/sheepherders makes no sense.

The bible has value but it should not be a substitute for responsible leadership, too many fanatical people would just try to live by it and then blame it on God's will when the shit hit the fan. Not my fault, we did what the book said, God must be displeased with us that the plague hit, it couldn't be because we rejected modern medicine and sanitation.

The founders saw fit to give us a Godless Constitution.

It has often been seen on the Internet that to find God in the Constitution, all one has to do is read it, and see how often the Framers used the words "God," or "Creator," "Jesus," or "Lord." Except for one notable instance, however, none of these words ever appears in the Constitution, neither the original nor in any of the Amendments. The notable exception is found in the Signatory section, where the date is written thusly: "Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven". The use of the word "Lord" here is not a religious reference, however. This was a common way of expressing the date, in both religious and secular contexts. This lack of any these words does not mean that the Framers were not spiritual people, any more than the use of the word Lord means that they were. What this lack of these words is expositive of is not a love for or disdain for religion, but the feeling that the new government should not involve itself in matters of religion. In fact, the original Constitution bars any religious test to hold any federal office in the United States.

George Washington's Treaty of Tripoli also stated "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion"...

The U.S. NOT founded upon Christianity

that was a treaty by diplomat Joel Barlow and is no longer law....

although our government was not "founded" per se upon Christianity alone it was strongly influenced by it...

and our Declaration of Independence points to the Creator who endows us with certain unalienable rights...

You can have all the input you like, but our laws should not be made solely to satisfy your sense of decency or protect your faith. Certain things like killing, theft, lying under oath, unprovoked aggression, fraud and so forth will be illegal no matter what as they are pretty much universally seen as bad things but some things that pretty much only matter to blue-nosed busybodies such as yourself like closing the beer store on Sunday or making some kinds of businesses illegal in the city limits is ridiculous.

Too many people already do.

The bible makes a great story loaded with morality, desperately needed during renegade times. A story which has been taken literally over the millenia unfortunately.

Our founders detested the Calvinists and damned if the modern Calvinists aren't trying to claim them as their own. Thomas Jefferson felt so strongly about it that he wrote his own version of the bible divorced of mysticism, arbitrary religious authority and hypocrisy.

Washington appointed Humphreys and Humphreys appointed Barlow. Washington knew Barlow.

As for the Declaration of Independence - it's NOT a governing document. It was more like a Declaration of Divorce from England.

The preliminary treaty began with a signing on 4 November, 1796 (the end of George Washington's last term as president). Joel Barlow, the American diplomat served as counsel to Algiers and held responsibility for the treaty negotiations. Barlow had once served under Washington as a chaplain in the revolutionary army. He became good friends with Paine, Jefferson, and read Enlightenment literature. Later he abandoned Christian orthodoxy for rationalism and became an advocate of secular government. Joel Barlow wrote the original English version of the treaty, including Amendment 11. Barlow forwarded the treaty to U.S. legislators for approval in 1797. Timothy Pickering, the secretary of state, endorsed it and John Adams concurred (now during his presidency), sending the document on to the Senate. The Senate approved the treaty on June 7, 1797, and officially ratified by the Senate with John Adams signature on 10 June, 1797. All during this multi-review process, the wording of Article 11 never raised the slightest concern. The treaty even became public through its publication in The Philadelphia Gazette on 17 June 1797.

the Bible was the basis for alot of American law.....

The Bible and Government - Faith Facts

Just because the bible says murder is bad and we have a law against murder should not be taken as cause and effect, however, I am pretty sure the reason I can't buy beer on Sunday or at all in some nearby counties or go to my local store and buy a lottery ticket has everything to do with the bible. I know what bible based legislation looks like here in red state purgatory and it sucks balls.

So was the Quran for Sharia law. What's your point?

proving to you liberals that Christianity is a major factor in the founding of America....

if Atheism or the Koran was used instead of the Bible we would be a very different nation today...

Still pushing the retarded idea that only Christianity has a sense of morality? Get over yourself, Christians are no more or less moral than any other random group of humans.

Christmas is considered a civil holiday by many and even non-Christians celebrate the day...
