this is a farley loaded issue i think that no matter the arguments for or aganst that this issue will not be resolved here. I'm not changing anyones mind and no one changing my mind.
That said abortion is boiled down to one issue, choice. Is it the mothers choice to chosse a pergnacy or to abort it? In my mind yes, I however am not advocating abortion as birth control.I am stating that in esscence the whole issue lies in the mothers right to chosse. It has nothing to do with reasons or want. Most people should be of the moral fiber to know that to end a pregnasy for comfort rather than nessity is wrong. But to punnish the few who, need to have the abortion one way or another(life is in danger and such) we should not deorive these women the right to chosse. It is not the issues fault that some in our society choose to use an abortion as a means of birth control. It is the individuals. we should not punnish the needy on the basis that the selvish abuse the right to chosse. I am for the right to chosse. Women who use abortion as a means of birht control will deal with there decsions later in life. Hopefully, if there is a God, he will make sure these women live for eternity with the descion they made.
No one can say to me that there is no sircumstance where an abortion can noe be condoned. again I'm not talking about a method of birth control. but if you take away the fundamental chioce you ruin the choice of the few who's choice is thier right and want.

Do you not see the link that woman do have a choice? They have "the right" to CHOOSE to have sex. They CHOOSE whether or not they put themselves in a position to "need" an abortion. The difference b/t choosing to have sex and an abortion is that choosing not to have sex hurts no one, choosing an abortion deprives someone of life because of your mistake. How is that fair? Why on Earth should anybody have THE RIGHT to make a choice like that?

You say you hope woman only CHOOSE abortions if they NEED one, here in lies the contradiction, meaning to me their life is in danger. I would agree, but that is not a matter of choice. It is a matter of neccessity.

Well said, Bern. "Choice" is a word used to lighten the abortion issue so it is easy for people to convince themselves that it's ok. I do not accept the term "pro choice". A person is either for abortion or against it. The only circumstance that I would consider allowing abortions is in a case of life or death, and even that is iffy for me. As small as she was , she fits in her father's single hand , she didn't look like a "fetus" to me . She is a baby and she is in good health , yet Kerry would like to allow the mother to kill her if she is still in the womb . It is the year 2004 , the variety of birth control out there is amazing , there are very few reasons for abortion .

As far as the size of a vehicle making it safer , why don't we all ride on buses ? Where does the size race end . It all comes down to who will survive the crash . If you are driving a land yacht , you will not have the control of a smaller vehicle to avoid the accident , you will either hit it head on or roll trying to avoid it . It becomes basically an arms race . I live in Texas and it is rediculous to drive around these things . Add DVD , GPS , leather chairs that should be in living rooms , distracted drivers of questionable skill levels doing everything but driving and you have a vehicle which is extremely dangerous for everyone in normal vehicles around them .6000 pound vehicles should be driven by professionals not soccer moms . We don't let just anybody drive school buses , why should we allow people to ferry around 7 screaming kids to cheerleading practice . It is unsafe , period! I won't even bother to bring up the rediculous use of natural resourses and the pollution that goes with it .
My family growing up numbered 8 . We had oldsmobile station wagons that we drove across the country to visit grandparents . No DVD , no personal music systems , no GPS . I don't know how we did it but we always found Granny's house . We played games , visited national landmarks , and interacted as a family , I pitty how spoiled the pretend families of today have become . There is no room for imagination or creativity in todays world it is all done for you , or bought for you. !6year olds with BMWs and Corvettes , and we wonder what is wrong today .
Sorry , I got off on a rant there but I just see so many people that don't seem to think about the repercussions of their actions .

The auto culture in the US is very diverse and I don't think there is such a thing as a normal vehicle. I live in the north where it snows alot and there are many roads that are not paved. The average family around here drives an SUV or a pickup with 4 wheel drive.

We have choices as to which vehicles we buy. If you wish you can choose economy over safety. But you take a risk when you do so. I am far more comfortable watching my wife and kid go down the road in an SUV than if they were in Geo. Even if she hit a tree and not another car, the odds of survival are much higher.

I drive a pickup because I need one for my business. I would drive one even if I didn't.

Small cars do not necessarily handle better than large ones.

There will always be drivers of questionable skill levels out there, no matter what they are driving. If there is an accident, it is the fault of the driver and not the vehicle. I am sick of seeing headlines that say "SUV kills 4". Really? SUV's have a mind of their own?

I do agree that our society is one of excess, but I would hate to see the govt force us all to drive little euro cars or to ride buses.

I certainly don't advocate the Government regulating what we are allowed to drive , I would much rather common sense control that . I am not an anti truck person , I drive a 4 WD Toyota truck that I bought when I lived in Denver . I am amazed at how many single driver vehicles go by me that dwarf my truck . My truck isn't a small vehicle , I can carry 3/4 to a ton in the bed . I rarely have any use for anything bigger . It just doesn't make a lot of sense to drive around Excursions or Suburbans by yourself . I also am not one to blame the vehicle for the ineptness of the driver but the size , seating position , and cost of a vehicle can effect the way a person drives and acts in a vehicle . Just as a Corvette or a Porsche may make a person feel that they are capable of doing more than they actually can , oversized vehicles can make the driver feel superior to the person in the smaller car . The seating position , the smoothness of the ride , and all of the other distractions in today's vehicles can lull a driver into a complacency state that makes them a wreck waiting to happen .
As for hitting a tree , SUVs consistantly rate lower than VW Beetles in crash tests . A lot of time a lighter car will be safer than the land barge that takes twice the distance to stop . I would much rather be in the beetle on black ice than an Excursion , but I like to drive a car not let it drive me. Once that Excursion starts spinning it just might take out a couple of families with it .
I would check the stats on the safety of the heavy weights , you may be unpleasantly surprised . I definitely believe the owners of these vehicles should pay a heavy use tax that would help pay for the damage they produce, something in relation to size and weight. I know in Texas your vehicle registration cost is based on these considerations but obviously it isn't working , it isn't a high enough penalty . It is amazing how many upside down SUVs I have seen on the highway .

I do not trust government safety standards. I believe that the beaurocrats in charge of them have political motivations. It is not (or should not be) the governments resposibilty to ensure our safety from ourselves. I do not choose vehicles based on govt safety standards. I choose them for power, hauling capacity and looks.

I don't support any kind of use tax for anything. We are taxed rediculously as it is. Why should I have to pay for damage before I caused it?

There are instances when a VW may be safer than an SUV. Like when it is parked it is less likely to get stolen! j/k. Really, though, I want more stuff between me and what I may run into generally speaking.

My main point is that we have and should have the right to choose what we drive. I think it is great that we can choose between VW's and H2's. Accidents are the sole responsibility of the drivers.

Most of the cars I see upside down are sedans. Around here the vast majority of accidents are caused by drunks and deer.

we're not trying to control "Gay's." What we're tring to do is protect the institution of mariage. To say that a mariage is between a man and a women is the way it's always been and the way it always should be. Look we're not for anti-homosexual laws. We just don't think that a man and a man, or a woman and a woman should be able to be legally married. Doesn't mean though that we're against civil unions. That in my eye's is fine. That entitiles a person to health care and insurance. That is fine marriage is not.

You live in america, we don't send Pageans to teh white house. Get over your self. Religion is the backbone to moral philosophy. With out religion there would be no moral code. No "punishmnet" after this life. I'd rather have an honest man fear Hell, than a dishonest man fear nothing.
It is howefver that I wright this that i assume you are a "post and go person" so I feel that i wrote this whole thing in vain. I really would like to know. I'm sure people will just blame the Republicans and mention nothing about what Clinton could have done about it. And look at that asshole Kerry. He voted against most new weapons systems that the military uses. I guess they would be better off with 30+ year old designs. I'm not saying the Republicans are perfect.
