The problem the plan B doesn't address is how in the case of TRUMP being jailed and the RNC "forced" to replace him with Haley or DeSantis is how either would win the support from TRUMP's base?

I think what the article is pointing out is that there are a lot of people out there that won't vote for Trump if he's been convicted of a crime.

It makes sense for DeSantis to stay in, but not Haley. Trump got a few more delegates than everyone else combined. Ramaswampy has dropped out so where will his delegates go? They were looking for someone like Trump, but without Trump's baggage. That's DeSantis. If Haley drops out where do her delegates go? They are never Trumpers. Who's not Trump? DeSantis. OTOH, if DeSantis drops out where do his delegates go? Trump, because they don't like globalist Haley. So if Nikki drops out DeSantis will likely have almost as many delegates as Trump. Also consider that many states have open primaries and since there's no real choice for Democrats, Democrat voters may well vote in the Republican primaries for DeSantis or Haley. Haley's best chance for stopping Trump is to drop out.

The appeal process will take longer than the November election.
