Thanks for beating me to it manu , that little utopian crap about the lions and sheep is just another example of the unrealistic , naive mindset these kids have . There is a quote that has been attributed to a number of people , I believe it was Churchill . . . .When you are 18 , if you aren't liberal , you have no heart . . . once you turn 40 if you aren't conservative you have no brain . It is astounding how true this is , I was the same way when I was living off of the hard work of my parents and was influenced by the type of pied piper professor that Donald Sutherland played in Animal House . Once LIFE hit me with rent , electricity , car notes , etc. that needed to be paid , I understood a great deal more . The lions would eat the leader sheep and then hunt down the other army of sheep and eat them also unless the sheep would arm themselves with M-16s and kill the lions first . . . that is reality.

There is nothing wrong with being a socialist...not having had much to live on for these past few years it's made me aware a lot of people are in the same case, all over the world for that matter, socialists programs do a lot of good, I've benefited from them in the past, I don't see why you find socialists so evil. From what even you have said in the past, you don't have much to live on because you are a student. That is all part of the growing process. There was a time in my life when, as my dad would have put it, I didn't have a pot to piss in or even a window to throw it out of". But I worked hard, persevered and now I have several pots and several windows.

I would suggest it means you are lazy and wanting somebody that is willing to work harder (the money has to come from some place for those social programs) take care of you.

I know a lot of socialists who aren't lazy...they have great jobs and have a great education. Don't see how that applies to socialists. Politicians which are socialists are lazy than?

Politicians that are socialist are trying to confine power within a small group of "elites". Think about it, socialism spawns no incentives to work hard. Therefore, the only ones that get "rich" are the ones that were rich in the first place.

Maybee that's true but than again whats wrong with setting up programs for the poor, as the rich are still going to be rich not matter what.

Setting up too many programs for the poor gives them no incentive to get off their tails and work hard to better their own lives.. At that point, why should they? Everything is readily available for their disposal.

I'll agree with you on that. Thats why it's not a perfect thing...But there is the need for basic help, which socialist programs offer. But they should also set up programs that help poor people make a life for themselves. I'd also like to add that we shouldn't generalize this again, a lot of people that benefit from those programs do go on and work hard and make a better life for themselves.

Most of them do not, however... Which is why the monetary need increases from year to year. You can make more money working at McDonalds than you can sitting on your rear, and collecting "assistance", most of those people will chose the sitting over McDonalds. Why? It's free. It's being handed to them. They have to do nothing for it. It's about as exhausting as leaning over to pick up a $50 you find on the sidewalk. It's "free money".

Problem is, it isn't free.

congratulations on supporting yourself...when you become wealthyand succesfull and they start to tell you how much of your money you dont' get to keep and start telling you what they are going to do with your money and that they are going to take your money and spend on those that can't do what you did beacause they are weak, lazy, adicted etc...and you still stay a socialist i will respect you.... until then you are an idealistic student....much as i was when i lived in denmark and supported my self with no help from anyone, smoked unfiltereds and read poetry to get laid....then i became succesful and felt that i should be able to keep my money and social darwinisim should be the norm not social entitlement programs
