Retail Coffee prices are not up 45% in the last year.

I have noted that 8 O' Clock bean went up fifty cents a pound in the last year. (from about $6.50 per lb. to about $7.00 per lb.) That's about a 13% increase.

I think this dire forecast is somewhat overstated.

Devaluing the dollar will drive prices of all imported food products up. That and using corn for fuel will drive up the cost of all foods that use corn. "Let's convert food into fuel!" What a stupid fuckin' idea that was.

Will prices shoot up overnight? No. They will rise slowly over the next few years so you get used to it and accept it. That was the plan the whole time.

Like Douger says, your only defense is to plant your own garden. That is, before the Feds move in a regulate that too!
