Who served, and with what unit?

16th_FA_Regimental_Crest.JPG

The crest we all wore.

3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery, 8th Infantry Division

Stationed in Baumholder, Germany

Honor Graduate as Forward Observer (82C) from Fort Sill, OK

Received "Army Commendation Medal" working in S2, Military Intelligence

ARMY_COMMEND.jpg

NOTE: This was for "Meritorious Service" and NOT Valor which would have been direct engagement with the enemy. Mine was for something I did while working in S2. I would never take credit for something I didn't do.

But that reminds me:

Remember when Right Wingers went after John Kerry for his medals? That invites similar scrutiny on the other side:

For the past month, the Swift Boat Vets have insisted Kerry did not legitimately earn his medals. Those assertions have all been discredited. Fairness now requires similar scrutiny to Bush's medals.

The media needs to demand the truth from Bush about his medals -- and about his still-unexplained grounding.

The right wing, so willing to dismiss charges against their own guys, so willing to smear someone innocent.

One of the ribbons is the Defense ribbon, everyone that served any time on active duty in the 60's and early 70's got one. It was reissued during Desert Storm and the current fighting.

Those aren't medals Bush is wearing, dumb fucking idiot.
Their ribbons. Probably unit commendations or something meaningless. If I color I could be precise.
And you claim to have served?
You should know better poser.

So you don't know. You're just spouting out your ass?

Do you see this guy wearing any "medals"?

n652900203_2282530_8233.jpg

When you receive a Medal, you also receive the ribbon that medal stands for. As well as "Permanent Orders" for that medal. Included in those permanent orders were medals for a SFC, a SGT and another SP4 like I was. The entire post attended the ceremony. In the two years I was stationed at Baumholder, I only attended one ceremony where this medal was awarded.

Believe it or not I don't care. I have it. It's mine. I earned it. And you don't have anything. Not even the truth.

I didn't serve - caught in the transition period in the early 70s between the draft and the volunteer military.

But my older brother did - signed up for the Army ROTC in college because he knew he was going to be drafted.

Decided to make the army a career, stayed for 20 years and retired a Lt Col. Set for life.

That's nice for your brother but the thread isn't titled did you have a brother who served retard. Stop making excuses, nobody stopped you from going to the recruiter's office if you really wanted to enlist you fuckin arm chair general.

Lighten up bong head. 7 Years wiping wings don't exactly give you bragging rights.

When and where did you serve ass wipe?

Hindsight is 20/20 dork.............

what wouldyou have done if you in my place at that time

probably the same thing...........

Unlike your bitch ass I actually joined the Military and went on 2 deployments, so how do you figure we would "do the same thing" retard?:cuckoo:

[When you receive a Medal, you also receive the ribbon that medal stands for.

Yes, Douche Nozzle, I know that.

There are also RIBBONS without medals, i.e. a NUC and a MUC.

The medal you received (allegedly) isn't worth a shit. If you had earned a MSM or a LOM, then you would have something to brag about.

You were nothing more than a latrine cleaner, if that.

Arcoms aren't that important. Purple Hearts, Bronze Stars, Silver Stars, Distinguished Service Cross, they are worthwhile. An Arcom you get for whiping you ass correctly.

Hey shipmate - I was on Westpac 78 as well!!! What a riot. I was aboard LPD-5.

Interesting.

I believe that was the year we were tasked with picking up boat people from Vietnam and Cambodia.

We didn't partake in that. We were too busy getting shitfaced on Mojo in the PI. What a cruise -

Pearl Harbor, Kwajelein, Eniwetak, Okinawa, Namazu, Kaohsiung (Taiwan) Pusan + Inchon (Korea), Sasebo, Subic Bay.

No - damn it. We WERE scheduled to hit Australia that cruise, but didn't. After that cruise - I was sent to the East Coast, spent the rest of my days in the North Atlantic/Med.

I was initiated as a Chief, however, back in 86, when initiations meant a shit.

Nowadays, they do PT, since Anchors Aweigh, and talk all this "brother/sister" PC-correct shit.

I was indeed on the Oggie Doggie.
We were in and out of White Beach so many damned times onloading and offloading those guys.
We did have an extended SRA (6 weeks) in Subic which was quite nice... if you know what I mean.

LOL - I mention Subic Bay, and the pop up ad I am getting now at the bottom of this page is FilipinoCupid.com
