Yep, it was 1933 when most Americans recognized that the socialism in the name of Hitler's National Socialist party was a incorrect. Even Time Magazine of the 1933 said, "... the Nazi insert the word socialist into their party name simply as a lure to discontented workers."

That mustve been propaganda, because they did start off socialist. But when those horrid party members like Himmler got in power they got uppity. They got above their station and started thinking they belonged with their betters.

I actually like those SA thugs better than the party, and I loathe gangs.

Usually fascism is put on the right, the far right, but on these boards we don't have to abide by any of that scholastic stuff, we can put our labels anyplace we like.

There's nothing about National Socialism that compares to American Conservatism.

Both Goebbels and Himmler were left wing authoritarian types. The Strasserite faction were proponents of a sort of 'nationalist Bolshevism' ideologically, and favored bringing some of the Red factions into the Party, particularly the labor Reds, while rejecting the Marxist internationalist intellectuals.

The Nazi Party by 1933 had become largely a personality cult built around Hitler, who had the largest private Army in the country by then, loyal only to him. After his first defeat at the polls he tossed the Strasserites under the bus, purged his competition, changed horses and aligned with the Junkers and industrialists; he was already favorable to those types through Goering's introductions and sponsorship, and it became clear to him that he needed their backing as well as the political power of the head of the police in Prussia at the time to make gains in the legislature, a former Kruppe executive, to win office, so Hitler took the Nazis to the 'right'. Hitler himself didn't have any particular ideology, he was just out for himself. Goebbels and Himmler preferred power over ideology themselves, so they just followed along.

I don't like wiki, but here are some intro articles on 'national bolshevism', for those who have never heard of it. It's alive and well in Russia today, under Putin, a similar figure to Hitler.

National Bolshevism - Wikipedia, the free encycloped

Influences and origins
National Bolshevism is said to have roots in World War I Germany, where nationalist writers such as Ernst Niekisch and Ernst Jünger were prepared to tolerate the spread of communism as long as it took on the clothes of nationalism and abandoned its internationalist mission.[4] This tendency, although minor, continued into the 1930s when it became associated with the National Socialist Combat Movement, a dissident breakaway movement from the Nazi Party which espoused left-wing economics and which was led by Hermann Ehrhardt, Otto Strasser and Walther Stennes.[5]

Karl Radek wanted some of the right-wing nationalists he had met in prison to unite with the Bolsheviks in the name of National Bolshevism. He saw in National Bolshevism a way to "remove the capitalist isolation" of the Soviet Union.[1] Radek had been influenced by the earlier ideas of Heinrich Laufenberg and Fritz Wolffheim, two Hamburg-based dissident communists whose ideas about a Germany-Soviet Union alliance in a nationalist war against the United States and the United Kingdom he had previously criticised.[6]

For most people Marxist economies and right wing and 'libertarian' economies are just distinctions without a difference in their real world implementations and practices. They just have different memes and slogans and lines of bullshit, is all.
