When will it be too late?

I think we are on the edge of the point of no return right now. We have abused the earth and the earth is going to b!tch slap us for being stupid.

When will it be too late to do anything about global warming?

Have we already guaranteed our doom?

So you are a warmist too ehh? Sorry to hear.

The facts....

from about 1980 to 1998 we had a 1/3 of a degree warming period. This started the Man made global warming claim.

Another inconvenient fact for the man made global warming crowd. Since 1998 until today there has been no significant warming.

A further fact. In the early 1900's scientists predicted that over the next 100 years the temperature would go up globally about 1 degree. And that is what it did.

So we had an 18 year trend that saw a rise of 1/3 of a degree world wide. Followed to date by a 14 year period with no appreciable warming. Remind me again how we are all doomed?

Even if it could be proved global warming is man-made ( virtually impossible scientifically).............the idea that some think there is ANYTHING we could do about it is just beyond gone. It is the realm only of the liberal mind which automatically supposes that there is a solution to every problem if only we have the will to fix the science or the institution.

You'd have to dig but this is referenced several times in the DSM IV.........cross-categorized in some cases........but lets put it this way. Perpetually makin' shit up and then actually believing it to be an absolute truth is clearly a result of thought processing fuck-ups. Its not an intelligence thing at all ( jerkoffs on these forums often use the term "retard" and have no clue what it means). Thought processing difficulties have no correlation with intelligence in most cases.

LOL!!! Logic is now a "thought processing error"?!?! Sorry, AGW has been proven. The only questions remaning are "when" and "how bad".

If you truely believe that a trace gas within the atmosphere with no capacity to trap IR can raise the temperature of the earth, it may already be to late for you.

You are clearly a victim of one of the greatest hoaxes in the history of the earth.

Who knows?

Frankly, I doubt anyone truly does.

And "our doom" is a bit of a stretch, don't you think?

Or perhaps I just don't understand what you mean by "our doom"

Does that mean we all die?

Sorry to have to call you a liar konradv, but alas, you are a liar. AGW has not been proven. In fact, it has not even been elevated to the level of a theory. AGW remains a piss poor hypothesis lacking a single shred of hard, observable, repeatable evidence that provides a hard link between the activities of man and the changing climate.

I already showed you that there has been no decrease in outgoing LW radiation since 1970 according to the satellite record in spite of a marked increase in atmospheric CO2. The facts simply don't support the AGW claims.

But once again, if you believe there is proof that provides a hard link between the activities of man and the changing climate or that there is anything going on in the climate today that is outside the boundries of natural variability, feel free to post your proof.

By the way, a claim that it has been posted rather than an actual posting will only tend to reinforce my claim that you are a liar.

The sky is not falling and we will not all die if the earth is a few degrees warmer.

I always wondered what was so terrible about using less energy and fuel and having longer growing periods for crops? It's been shown that the Earth has warmed many times coinciding with human existance, and we're all still here. Greenland was actually once green. :eusa_eh:

Flooding, much of the earth's poulation would have to move.
Tropical diseases would move more easily to previously temperate regions.
Some areas may have longer growing periods, but others could become deserts.
Storms would become more destructive.

That enough for now?

There's still lots of empty space
Tropical diseases would move more easily to previously temperate regions.

for which there are tried and proven remedies
Some areas may have longer growing periods, but others could become deserts.
So for every area that because less fertile, some will become more fertile

Storms would become more destructive.

That enough for now?

Not proven one bit.

The Earth's climate has been changing since its inception, it's not going to stop changing now because you decide to use less fuel. Someday the sun will cease to exist and if this solar system somehow survives that, this will then be a huge frozen dark ball in space, are you going to stop that from happening too?

The time element never even enters your mind, does it? :cuckoo:

Nobody sane is talking doom. What we are talking about is the negative consequences of global warming. Humanity survived the eruption of Toba, and the black plague, we will survive the warming. It just won't be pleasant.

It is already too late to prevent many consequences. If the clathrates let go, then it will run it's course, no matter what we do. If you google Swiss Re and Munich Re you will see that the biggest re-insurance firms in the world are talking of preparing for consequences, not prevention.

Ceasing to to put GHGs into the atmosphere as rapidly as possible would make the situation less worse, but would not prevent some major problems. The level of GHGs in the atmosphere today will be the driver of events in 2042, as what we see today is the results of the levels in 1982. Kind of like a freight train. From the time you put on the brakes until the train stops is a long way past where the problem was first seen.
