Vegas-to-SoCal high-speed rail project clears major hurdle

"High speed" rail competes with air travel, not automotive travel.

On the route from LA to Vegas, it is about the same to drive as it is to drive. By the time you drive to LAX, get through TSA and make it to the gate, the one hour flight becomes four. But I think if Spirit has that route, it would be cheaper to fly.
