Why does USMB permit these things here. Does the company get paid for allowing this stuff?

Not sure, what browser are you using?

I use Firefox in permanent browsing mode, so all social media trackers, cross-site cookies, tracking content, cryptominers, and fingerprinters are blocked.

Once or twice a month I grab a search engine and search for stuff I will never need. This throws those bastards off.

If you are a guy, search for feminine stuff like tampons. If you are a woman, search for things like jock straps and Viagra. If you are a couch potato search for bicycles. If you are a health food nut, search for junk food like potato chips.

You can go to this page to see what bots are active: Current visitors

If you click on the bot name, it'll take you to another page that tells you what it does.

did you not already know they are doing that??

the rest of us already know it,,
Do we? I had to go to my bank and tell them to cut up my credit card because of someone helping themselves to my information, which my internet warning system mentioned caution at at least 10 different places. And one of the other loyal leftists here said he is paid to post here and who knows what all. I hate what this does to people's sense of security, but I've been here so long, I love the people in the coffee shop, and I'm addicted to reading their posts, as no politics are allowed there. Foxfyre the coffee lounge's inventor is a true angel and makes USMB a home for all. No one can do more for peace on the internet than Foxy. That's just my opinion. Usually the first thing a newcomer to the coffee lounge does is to accidentally say something about politics, at which times 4 or 5 members (on both sides of the political aisle) gives warning for you not to do dat. I been there did dat. And after my very slight hazing, never did dat again. :heehee:

If you're a Democrat, search for Above Average IQ 🤪

You mean private browsing mode?

That’s informative. For real. I usually browse with DuckDuckGo.

I used to go with DDG but found it was slowing stuff down big time in Win 10. I use Privacy Badger which probably is as good as what you're using, however, I had trouble posting Twitter feeds, it ended up being Badger. So I shut it off on this site.
