Deep State Plant.
The TSA is a total waste of money. We have all heard the anecdotes of the very young and the very old getting screened for bombs or whatever. What many have not heard is that almost zero air freight relative to the number of tons moved per year is screened. We also have not heard about the threats to the aircraft itself from within.

It's a total waste and it's time for it to go.

Reps your way upon reload.

Now that is a legitimate criticism about our previous nation builder.

Agreed.

The problem is, however, members of Congress are too frightened of the voters to act, and no lawmaker wants to be perceived as ‘weak on terror.’

And the voters themselves are unsure, fearful of ‘terrorism,’ they’ll make it clear to elected officials they want the TSA to stay.

They're not Sworn Officers either so every search they do is a violation of your 4th Amendment. They get 40 hours of classroom training and a badge.

Passenger safety on private airlines should be in the hands of and paid for by the private businesses and they should be held responsible for any acclaim or aw shits.

I would think that this is one instance where the Public would understand that this isn't being weak on terror, it's being tough on waste.

I saw on Yahoo where a plane's door landed in Seattle without the plane landing with it. It wasn't the TSA's purview to check door hinges but we're obviously no safer in the air with them from real threats than we are without their being there

Beef up the private security--I have no problem with that. But what we're funding is cosmetic and impotent.

If you can put it through the laundry, it's not a badge, it's a decal. My old KISS Army patch was harder to earn than their "badge".

Let customs handle anyone coming into the country, just beef up the usual customs check.

For domestic make it a state or airport operating authority function, just make the feds create the standards to follow, and try to keep the standards under 100 pages.

The TSA is a training organization. Its purpose is to get people used to the totalitarian government that is coming if obama wins.

TSA makes no one feel safe. Just resentful. Of all institutions, the TSA has to be the most despised.

They are right up there with "Traffic Enforcement Agents" i.e. meter maids, or brownies.

Everyone does understand they changed the name of that agency early on....

It was...........

Federal aviation transportation airport security service. The abbreviations did it in...

Bin Laden is dead. The war on terrorism is officially over. We are all safe now. The TSA is no longer needed. End of conversation.

Incorrect the "war" on terrorism will never end.
However I do think that private industry should provide for it's own security.

If/when we have another terrorist incident the right will be just like before crying "Keep us safe" Make the patriot act permanent. "You have nothing to fear from them unless you are doing something wrong".
And yes that last one is a quote heard from multiple right wingers supporting the partiot act when it was first brought up.
