Oh sure, the entity known as the United States will keep on in some fashion for quite awhile yet. But the country which took the world by storm is gone.

And the worst part is, its our own fault. The American who led this nation to greatness is by and large gone.

Integrity, Honor,Hard Work, Honesty, Charity,Faith,Kindness,Intelligence,Fairness, attributes which used to be easy to find are now as rare as a unicorn.

The average American is lazy, dishonest, disloyal, mean, stupid, and just downright unpleasant.

Watch some of these talk shows, or listen to talk radio or read some of these newspapers and you see the new attitude of Americans.

"anyone who disagrees with me is stupid" is the new catch phrase, no matter how stupid what that person thinks. It's always the other person who is stupid.

Or the trend, which isn''t all THAT new I suppose, of pretending like EVERYTHING from the other side is a stupid idea, and everything from your own side is a great idea. Which people from BOTH sides do, never mind that left and right both equally have good and bad ideas , frankly mostly bad ideas from both sides.

Perhaps most disturbing to me is the people who can't figure out that freedoms worth defending are NOT just those freedoms which YOU personally enjoy.

As an example, I'm a straight male , but I defend a man's right to be a gay if he wants. Why shouldnh't I? It doesn't affect me in the least, and we are a country of freedoms aren't we? By the same token, leave my guns alone.

Fully half of the people in this nation no longer contribute in the form of income tax, in fact many actually EARN money from the system, and many not only don't have a problem with that, they applaud it.

By the same token the super rich in this nation surely get benefits from such wealth that the common man will just never have access to and yes they can afford to pay accordingly, that isn't the same thing as saying "soak the bastards"

Welfare isn't doing us any favors either. Okay, I can buy that we need to provide a safety net for people who fall on hard times, and honestly anyone who disagrees with that is just a fool. But by the same token, folks we have people making their LIVING off of welfare, people living more comfortably than people who go out there and bust their ass every day and again we have people out there who are not only okay with it, they applaud it.

People who are adamantly anti Christian are also part of the problem. No one could possibly be as outraged over some of the things these folks claim outrage them. Oh my God Christians want to have a nativity scene on the town square , to the batmobile...

What part of the first amendment is so hard for some to understand I have a freedom to practice my religion, you don't have the freedom to not see me do so. The government is obligated to not interfere with my right. They are not obligated to keep you from having to see any form of religious practice.

Frankly, most days, I'm embarrassed to be an American.

If we want to save this once great nation of ours, we will have to save it one person at a time, otherwise it's of no use even trying.

But I see such applauded and or the teens who word American flags in school on a Mexican American Holiday suspended for trying to incite violence. Why was there so much division allowed in this school for a group of students wearing this nations flag to be charged with doing something wrong? Why

I was just reading an article where ATM machines are being used in strip clubs and bars. Nice to have money I have paid into the system going for porn and not food to help the needy.

I do not see how it will be saved. We do not enforce laws on the books for fear of being seen as bigoted. The government does not go after states who go against federal law evenly, they pick and choose when the law clearly says otherwise.

(Otherwise we'd all be into works and "earning our salvation".. ) This is a matter of a pardon that Jesus Christ paid at the Cross for your sins, for my sins, for the sins of the world and if you leave earth without accepting that pardon you leave earth with your sin still remaining on you. Unless a man be born again he cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven. You must accept the pardon Christ has paid for you.

If you were able to keep the entire law of Moses and miss it on one small infraction you'd still be found guilty because the truth is if God didn't think it was the only way for the sin of man to be washed clean ( through his own Sons shed blood at the cross ) He would have never sent him.

Do you really believe that if there was another way God would have not taken it? Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God and if he says no man comes to the Father except through the Son you had better believe no man will.

Now the pardon is paid for in full. Would you rather do eternity in hell separated from God because you rejected his offer of full pardon and redemption through his son or would you like to settle the matter tonight on where you will go should you die in your sleep and not wake up this morning?

You see, the last day is not the day of the rapture but the day you take your last breath. After that there is nothing else. There is no altar at the Great White Throne Judgment. The altar is right here and right now so receive the pardon Jesus Christ paid for and come as you are.

You do not need to clean yourself up to come to God, friend. This is a come as you are invitation. If you could earn the gift of salvation it would no longer be a gift now, would it? It is a free gift.

God sent his only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die on a cross for your sins so that you could be reconciled back to the Father. Do not refuse his Love for you. It wasn't nails that held Jesus Christ to that cross, it was his tremendous love for you and for his father whose heart yearns greater to be reconciled with his prodigal sons & daughters than any earthly father could ever understand. Be reconciled and go to his banqueting table now. It's all been paid for.

The USA is headed for a real cliff. Not the fiscal cliff of the government not having the money to continue to spend more than they have but a cliff made up of two real threats.
The first which is less important but more eminant is not having enough money to continue as a nation. The time is near when the USA will not have enough money to pay the interest on the interest-only loan that now approaches 16.4 Trillion dollars. When that happens the USA will collapse into anarchy at best.
The second is that our government, in an attept to stave off the coming anarchy is trying to take away or at least diminish our rights as citizens of the USA.
They are attacking our rights in small insideous steps while at the same time segregating us by our passions. Those who are passionate about one right or one part of a right are blind to the attacks on other rights or convinced that there is no right and "special" action need to be taken to prevent harm - usually voiced as "to protect the children" when there is little threat to children at all. Our grade school are teaching "conflict resolution" instead of Constitutional history. They teach our children that peace is better at any cost than confrontation. They teach that sharing is more important than earning. Lets call it what it is - Socialism. Our schools are teaching socialism even at the primary school level.
They should be teaching our children to read and write and do math. They should be teaching about the Bill of Rights and why it was put in place. The should be teaching about the war of independence and why our founders fought with everything they had to be free. Instead they are being taught to get along with everyone - even if it means being someone you are not. We are losing our independence and our children to socialist tactics that have been used in cultures before us. The outcome is the same. Socialistic values bring socialism to the political policies and then freedoms are lost, lives are lost, and countries are lost.
History is your friend - study it and learn from it or repeat it.

Maybe. Maybe not. Times change, and so does society. Sometimes for the better, sometimes not so much. All the depressing stuff going on now, it won't last, it never does. Anybody here old enough to remember the 60s, anti-establishment, counter culture, make love not war? People thought then the world was going to hell, but times changed. People worried about global war and annihilation, didn't happen. We had the rat race, then we didn't. We had people living far beyond their means, now we don't, although many would like to. Used to be everyone was expected to pull their weight, now not so much. But it'll change, maybe we need to go through another bad depression like the 1930s or worse to change attitudes and values. Maybe we'll have to go through it more than once.

I wish we weren't giving future generations such a mess to clean up; we're making it hard on them, and we're still going in the wrong direction IMHO. But America pulled itself out of a terrible depression and a really bad war and a really big debt once before. It can be done, and I think will eventually.

That's the point though my friend. We don't have the group of Americans they had.

Today's American is more concerned with insulting other people, and being "right" than with actually fixing anything.

Oh sure, the entity known as the United States will keep on in some fashion for quite awhile yet. But the country which took the world by storm is gone.

And the worst part is, its our own fault. The American who led this nation to greatness is by and large gone.

Integrity, Honor,Hard Work, Honesty, Charity,Faith,Kindness,Intelligence,Fairness, attributes which used to be easy to find are now as rare as a unicorn.

The average American is lazy, dishonest, disloyal, mean, stupid, and just downright unpleasant.

Watch some of these talk shows, or listen to talk radio or read some of these newspapers and you see the new attitude of Americans.

"anyone who disagrees with me is stupid" is the new catch phrase, no matter how stupid what that person thinks. It's always the other person who is stupid.

Or the trend, which isn''t all THAT new I suppose, of pretending like EVERYTHING from the other side is a stupid idea, and everything from your own side is a great idea. Which people from BOTH sides do, never mind that left and right both equally have good and bad ideas , frankly mostly bad ideas from both sides.

Perhaps most disturbing to me is the people who can't figure out that freedoms worth defending are NOT just those freedoms which YOU personally enjoy.

As an example, I'm a straight male , but I defend a man's right to be a gay if he wants. Why shouldnh't I? It doesn't affect me in the least, and we are a country of freedoms aren't we? By the same token, leave my guns alone.

Just as two examples.

Fully half of the people in this nation no longer contribute in the form of income tax, in fact many actually EARN money from the system, and many not only don't have a problem with that, they applaud it.

By the same token the super rich in this nation surely get benefits from such wealth that the common man will just never have access to and yes they can afford to pay accordingly, that isn't the same thing as saying "soak the bastards"

Welfare isn't doing us any favors either. Okay, I can buy that we need to provide a safety net for people who fall on hard times, and honestly anyone who disagrees with that is just a fool. But by the same token, folks we have people making their LIVING off of welfare, people living more comfortably than people who go out there and bust their ass every day and again we have people out there who are not only okay with it, they applaud it.

People who are adamantly anti Christian are also part of the problem. No one could possibly be as outraged over some of the things these folks claim outrage them. Oh my God Christians want to have a nativity scene on the town square , to the batmobile...

What part of the first amendment is so hard for some to understand I have a freedom to practice my religion, you don't have the freedom to not see me do so. The government is obligated to not interfere with my right. They are not obligated to keep you from having to see any form of religious practice.

More fun I suppose to make fun and claim people believe fairy tales, or what have you.

If you're 8. Which I suppose is about right since the average American has the mental capacity of an 8 year old.

Look at the recent shootings as another example of what I'm referring to.An absolutely horrible tragedy in Sandy Hook, and people don't have the decency to wait ONE week before making political hay out of it, people on BOTH sides.

Maybe this country needs to end.

Frankly, most days, I'm embarrassed to be an American.

If we want to save this once great nation of ours, we will have to save it one person at a time, otherwise it's of no use even trying.

I thought the topic, the discussion was very powerful. I believe you guys put into words what others having been thinking lately. It was very well done, I thought Pauls comments were a great addition to what you were both speaking about.

The government isn't going to collapse, in spite of the butthurt fantasies of teapartiers. This country has weathered far worse than what we currently are dealing with, and a good U.S. history class would give you a better basis in avoiding these kinds of chicken little overreactions.

The U.S. is changing, as it has done continuously for the past almost 300 years. What the majority of people in this country want this country to be may not match your desires, but that doesn't mean that their vision is broken or wrong or doomed.
