Why do shiites omit certain sura and verse from the quran? Why are there different versions and readings?

Half the people make protestation that the religion is one of peace while the other half wage war on not just other faiths but against their fellow muslims. Someone does not understand Islam and the other has to make it clear not just to other muslims but to the world what is truly the right path.
How is it such a perfect religion when there is so much dysfunction in understanding it?
The old ways don't fit with a modern society but more and more muslims move to the west. They have to adapt or go back, it is not their right to impose their faith on other who are not musims. There is not compulsion to Islam, but too many muslims except everyone else to conform and obey their faiths laws.
Somewhere there is a problem and all muslims need to some agreement about how to live in the west and what exactly Islam does say. Non-muslim are not obligated to conform or abide by sharia and muslims have to stop expecting them to, especially in non Islamic countries of the west.
So yes, reform is needed as well as some consensus to end the infighting between the sects. They need to start actually practicing peace and leave the struggles to those internally and not externally struggle against all the other occupants of this planet. They are all god's people regardless of faith.
