Swiss Region Bans Burqas

not dress code, just don't hide your face code

That doesn't matter to me. I don't want the government able to dictate to us American citizens in such a way.
But they already do.

ONLY in certain situations. In America, women can wear a burka if they choose.
I don't think you've read the earlier posts that point out that there are laws on the books in certain states where covering your face is already illegal. So, what you say does not apply to all of America at all, regardless of your insistence and emotional response to the issue. Please read the earlier posts and you will see.

It is not "illegal." It is only illegal under certain circumstances, right? The burka is not banned in any states in the United States, right?

covering face is

You people need to understand that we citizens have rights and OUR government is not to dictate such things to us.
You need to understand that there are already dictats that you accept without question, I've you cannot walk around naked. But because you don't mind that one you sweep it aside, and keep making assumptions about your own country. Oh boy. Just go and do the research and you will see for yourself, I can't keep spoon feeding.

So you say that you have links that show a burka is illegal and banned in some states. I would like to know what post number contains those links, please. Thank you in advance. :)
Please read the posts where I have very clearly referred to covering the face and concealingg ones ID.

Your posts are not links to reputable sites. I want the specific law as written by the state. How often is this law applied? Has it been applied to any Muslim women wearing burkas?

I don't like the government being able to tell us what we can and cannot wear for one thing. A government enforced dress code? No thank you.

not dress code, just don't hide your face code

So, back to Halloween, no hiding of faces?
No, back to, exceptions can and are made, and are made clear in the laws. Walnut, California maybe being the exception :)

Last I saw was a few pakistani but the vast majority were asian or hispanic

No burkas

So, if a country sees a threat from a group of people, it's okay to then limit their freedoms?

So the US goes around invading countries at will, other countries should restrict the rights of Americans because the US is a threat? Right, I'll go and write to some foreign governments explaining your position.
If those "freedoms" possibly pose a threat from terrorism then yes limit. Would you allow a Sryian refugees enrollment into a flight school the moment they come to the US?

So, does a woman wearing a burka "possibly pose a threat"?

Does a person walking around with a GUN pose a threat?

Two sides of the same coin here. If the US is going to limit those people who "possibly pose a threat", then you've gone a looooooong way to getting rid of a lot of freedoms.

MOST prisoners in US prisons are males. Males pose a threat the security of the USA.
Not two sides of same coin

The person with a gun if not licensed then should be subdued and disarmed. The burka could be used for concealing a weapon it is a social statement nothing more.

So, why not get Muslim women to be licensed to wear a Burka? Then everything will be safe, right? Because registered gun owners don't kill people.

yes, the Burka could be used for concealing a weapon. So, we should ban ALL CLOTHING that would allow someone to conceal a weapon.

We're looking at being quite naked for a lot of the time.

th

Could she be concealing a handgun?
The burka also makes identification more difficult.

Okay, and who needs to do any identification?

As far as I know in the US it is NOT a requirement for a person to have any identification on their person at any time.

There are things where you will need ID, like buy alcohol (how many Burkaed women are going to get IDed buy beer in a bar?), get on an airplane, use your credit card and so on, however it is NOT a requirement.

How can any American citizen support the government going this far to tell us that we cannot wear a specific article of clothing? I do not want the government telling me that this or that is not okay for me to wear!!

I am already aware that the government cannot ban "religious" articles of clothing. Lol.
You really aren't paying attention, so this will be my last try. The laws we are discussing relate to covering the face. Doesn't matter what the person is covering it with. Ps it is not a religious requirement to cover your face in Islam, so it is not religious clothing.

The faith and civil rights communities must join with legislators to amend this law to insure public safety while maintaining the respect for religious freedom.

Although, I do not subscribe to the school of thought that says Muslim women must cover their faces in public. I believe it is their right to do so.

While I must remind the readers that in Philadelphia some men have committed armed robbery while wearing niqab, the face veil.

(WUSA) — As we’re approaching Halloween, you may want to refrain from wearing your mask in public before the scary day if you live in Virginia. Doing so landed a 19-year-old Spotsylvania man behind bars.

Wearing masks in Virginia’s public places is a felony that could land you behind bars up to 5 years. Attorney Robert Hall showed us the 1960 statute last amended in 1986. The code prohibits anyone older than 16 from wearing masks or hoods except on Halloween or for medical, safety, or weather reasons. Why?

“This was oriented towards making Klu Klux Klan members be less intimidating by requiring them to disclose their identity,” explained Hall.

But what if you’re concealing your identity for religious reasons like many Muslim women? Surprisingly, there is no exemption: according to the law, that too is illegal.

“If someone thought it was important to their reelection or their initial election that they propose the prosecution of someone wearing a burkah, they could get them on this statute,” said Hall.

“Clearly, there should be a religious exemption,” said Imam Johari Abdul-Malik with the Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center. He says it’s a dangerous loophole that infringes on their civil rights.

He added, “Virginia has changed. There are people who cover their faces now who didn’t cover their faces in the 1960s.”

Not paying attention? I'm merely asking you to back up your claims with the post number of your link. That is something that you need to do when you are debating about an issue with someone.

Now, back to the subject, where in the state bylaws is this law? There is no reference, just a very short paragraph claiming there is a law with no reference material. I really cannot take it seriously unless it references the specific law so that it can be looked up and read.

This is all your link says about it . . . Showed "us" the law it states. Who is "us?" It seems as if it is a blog site.

Reel you're neck back in you stupid woman. You have made a lot of silly statements and you can't be bothered to go back a few pages because you don't want to see that you don't understand your own laws nearly as well as you thought you did. You are pretending such indignation it's hilarious. If you are too lazy too check out you're own laws and too afraid of what you will find, that's your problem not mine. I have no intention of repeatedly finding and posting this stuff for you. You are behaving like an obnoxious obstinate teenager. Now, get off you're backside, go do some of your own research, think about what you find, and get back to me when you can discuss it in an informed and adult manner. Lol @ you :)

If an officer of the law requests that a person remove a face covering for identification purposes, then I don't have an issue with that. The person wearing the face covering should have to comply but to say that "you can't wear this because you might commit a crime" is nothing but fucking retarded and I think would be totally unconstitutional if challenged at a higher level court of law.

Sounds just like people want to take freedoms away from Muslims.
Not really. A Jewish, Christian, atheist, Hindu, Jaine, agnostic also may also not wear a face mask except for the times, events, circumstances that the law allows.

No, I don't want to read 56 or so pages just to find your link. If you are going to make claims, then it is up to you to back them up with reputable and legitimate links when requested or you forfeit.
When I politely asked you to refer back to those articles, they were just a few pages away, as I told you at the time. But you were too busy wailing and misunderstanding just about everything to carry out the mammoth task of clicking back a few pages. Such is life.

Are you replying to me or not?

If you are, then the point being made was made, not by me, but Alex. I'm sorry if you're butting into our conversation and then getting annoyed about it, but that is your problem and nobody else's.

If those "freedoms" possibly pose a threat from terrorism then yes limit. Would you allow a Sryian refugees enrollment into a flight school the moment they come to the US?
No I wasn't replying to you, but I'm not in the least surprised that you can't follow the thread.

Well, I am only reading those posts addressed to me. I'm not reading the entire thread, so if you wouldn't mind at least providing me with the page number, that would be appreciated.
