Seattle raises minimum wage to $15 an hour

What's the difference? LOL!
I'll try to explain down to your room temperature IQ.

When you increase the cost of something, people tend to buy less of that good or service.

Obama wants to hike the cost of carbon, to save the Earth, because people will use less carbon.

If you increase the cost of your unskilled labor, businesses will use less unskilled labor.
You see they can invest capital in technology to replace that unskilled labor.

Now if you reduce the tax burden on labor, by cutting taxes, people have an incentive to work more.

For example, if a second wage earner in the home has a tax burden of 50%, they'll be more likely to work part time rather than full time.
The lower after tax income might even cause them to prefer not to work at all.
Cut that tax burden, the incentive shifts toward work.

The cost of not working increases as taxes drop.

Let me know if there is anything else I can clear up for you.
I'm always happy to educate an ignorant liberal.

Whatever that gibberish is supposed to mean notwithstanding,

what's the difference between a 100 dollar a week tax cut and a 100 dollar a week wage increase?

what's the difference between a 100 dollar a week tax cut and a 100 dollar a week wage increase?

you get less money in your pocket with the wage increase verse a a tax cut

A tax cut spikes deficit spending, inflation, prices, poverty, job loss, unemployment, more population on government dole, which leads to higher taxes.

A wage minimum increase gets people off government dole, shrinks government services, lowers taxes, increases jobs, lowers deficit spending, lowers inflation.

More retarded straw-man idiocy from retards who have nothing.

$100/hr is a bad idea? Why?

For the same reason that just because lowering taxes might be economically beneficial, lowering taxes to zero and collected no revenue whatsoever for the government to operate might be stupid.

No ... this is stupid and a reckless use of tax payer money:

Barack Obama personally slashed the annual pay raise for the members of the Armed Forces almost in half last month from 1.8 percent to 1.0 percent. Citing “serious economic conditions affecting the general welfare” of the nation as his rationale, seven weeks later the same Obama Administration was able to release $1,600,000,000 worth of American taxpayer money to Pakistan, as reported by ABC News on Oct. 19, 2013.
Obama Quietly Sends $1.6 Billion to Pakistan » The Free Patriot

Some taxation is necessary but "taxation without representation" is a slap in the face of the American taxpayer. How tax money is used is the key to the issue of taxation. Expensive vacations and shopping sprees; unnecessary use of Air Force 1; giant, corporate bailouts; arming Mexican drug lords; and many more misuses of tax income IS "stupid."

If I was still an employee and not a business owner ... And the minimum wage was raised to $15 a hour here ... I wouldn't be happy until I was earning at least three times that.

The only real difference is that I would do what was necessary to earn what I desired and to hell with the rest of you.
I wouldn't wait for government to tell me what I should have ... I wouldn't petition my friends and neighbors to support my desires.
Anyone who is truly satisfied with the minimum is a waste of time and space ... And deserves the fact they don't have anything worthwhile.

.

so you people are "governed" by a city council now huh?

wow when were they given the powers to pas LAWS onto you?

my gawd, the citizens of today are nothing but sheep

SeaTac workers “not happy” with $15 min. wage

Published May 28, 2014

Last January, SeaTac implemented a $15 per hour minimum wage for hospitality and transportation workers. The consequences to the drastic hike in wages are just beginning to be realized—and it’s not pretty.

A writer for NW Asian Weekly recently blogged about her experience attending an event at a SeaTac hotel. She asked employees if they were “happy with the $15 wage.” The ensuing conversations,

“It sounds good, but it’s not good,” the woman said.

“Why?” I asked.

“I lost my 401k, health insurance, paid holiday, and vacation,” she responded. “No more free food,” she added.

“The hotel used to feed her. Now, she has to bring her own food. Also, no overtime, she said. She used to work extra hours and received overtime pay.

“What else? I asked.

“I have to pay for parking,” she said.

“I then asked the part-time waitress, who was part of the catering staff.

“Yes, I’ve got $15 an hour, but all my tips are now much less,” she said. Before the new wage law was implemented, her hourly wage was $7. But her tips added to more than $15 an hour. Yes, she used to receive free food and parking. Now, she has to bring her own food and pay for parking.”

Well shit, maybe the gubmit should step in and force those companies to give all those goodies back!

Yeah, that'll show them!! Fuck those companies!!

.

Increasing minimum wage increases jobs & lowers unemployment rates.

Good to know.
Let's raise it to $100/hr.

When reality is an argument you can't win, create a fantasy argument.

$100/hr is a fantasy? Why?

Imagine all the demand that will be created.
And the tax revenues for government? Incredible!!!

Make it happen.
I don't think they want to discuss unions driving businesses out of business, Mr. Toddsterpatriot. :D

What's the difference? If a tax cut gave me an extra hundred dollars a week, or a wage increase gave me an extra hundred dollars a week...

A $100 a week wage increase based on government edict, rather than productivity increases, will destroy employers and reduce unskilled employment.

Let me know if any of those words are too large.

You are having the government artificially increase the cost of labor. What happens when you raise prices? People stop purchasing that product or service.

It's basic economics.

You might as well be saying that regulating immigration is a case of the government artificially increasing the cost of labor because in a free market the free flow of labor across the border would drive down wages.

Millions of illegals streaming across our borders have driven down wages.
Sealing the border and deporting 10 million illegals would result in higher low skilled wages.

We agree!

Both Bushs were Big Deficit Spending disasters. Massive price increases during their terms. Dick Cheney "Reagan proved that deficits don't matter. We won the mid-term elections, this is our due."

Clinton & Obama slash deficit spending & inflation. Government spending will plummet further once the minimum wage gets raised above government tit sucking poverty levels.
