A five year old could have seen this coming. Unfortunately, the people running California aren't as smart as a five year old.

LOL

In response to recent minimum wage increases in California, fast food restaurants across the state are shifting to automation to get rid of wage-earning humans.

The move to making customers place orders at digital kiosks alleviates what owners say is the financial strain of rising labor costs after the minimum wage for the state’s fast food workers increased on April 1 from $16 to $20 per hour.

Harsh Ghai, a Burger King franchise owner who manages 140 outlets along the West Coast, is leading the transition to automation. He plans to introduce digital kiosks across all his restaurants within months — a drastic acceleration from his original timeline of five to 10 years.

The govt causes inflation.
The govt decides to regulate business labor, because they fuck everything up with their out of control spending. So, no one can afford to buy anything.
People lose their jobs.
Welfare goes up. So, in essence, we supply the band aid for their mistakes.
LOL Leftists are stupid pieces of shit.

I read about the Burger King guy..... I suspected at the time the reason he said years was to keep the CA .gov off his back but the tech guy interviewing him said it could be done in all his stores in less than a year.

It also serves to limiting inside dining space.....That's something else that will be the next to go.....It's already gone in some stores.....Why pay people to clean-up after nasty patrons.

The good news: Fewer employees will maintain profit levels.

Politicians understand that businesses exist for the sole purpose of returning profits, and businesses will return profits of leave the business arena.

But politicians live by votes - not profits - so if they sacrifice the jobs of a few thousands of their constituents in order to obtain votes from those remaining,it was a good and beneficial action. For themselves.

So profits and votes continue. Only jobs are lost.

So these businesses have been operating with surplus workers all along?

There is no other reason for business to exist than to make a profit.

Forget inflation, not long ago Libs were stating there was no "recession" because jobs were available. Now libs want to make sure a recession occurs.

Raising lowest bottom wages causes multiple harms. A more mature solution is to be educated and work your way past those low level jobs and into a proportionate wage reality
Sure. That way you can dismiss the plight of the underpaid with maximum smugness.

Dems never see it coming, people and businesses don't just have to stand there and take the Dem's shit they have options. Fire half the employees for example. Pass the 'tax the rich' onto the poor and working class. Dems like to think they are sticking it to the 'rich' when the morons just screw themselves. God is there anything dumber than a Democrat??

That pic is from Texas. Ordering kiosks are all over nowadays, at any minimum wage.

Years ago conservatives were posting same BS about $15 minimum wage and how unemployment is going to explode...except what happened was record low unemployment instead.

More than ever this is the reason we need more socialism in the country. Our country is now getting one step closer to socialism which in the long run will make America so much better. At first this is a big problem yes, but with government intervention the $20/ minimum wage will be the best thing for California along. Government needs more control over businesses, telling them who they can hire and who they can't and who they are allowed to fire and who they are not allowed to fire.

Those digital kiosks ask too many damn questions just to place an order for something as it normally comes. The ones at our closest McD's ask about every single component. Do you want the bun? Do you want the meat? Do you want cheese? Do you want pickles? Do you want ketchup? and on and on and on.

So much better. Except for all the low-skilled people who get fired or never hired.

Thanks for the laugh.
