Why does capitalism inspire so many 'escapist f0lk-tales' (e.g., Escape from New York)?

An evil capitalism-tower was constructed on Hong Kong, and it facilitated the circulation of corruption and even narcotics. The year was 2090, and people wondered if the future and capitalism only brought spiritual malaise. However, a valiant team of space-adventurers known as the 'Star Sheriffs' wanted to create a dominion of law and order, and they were led by a daring swordsman named Sabre-Rider.

All warriors believe in the magic of sword-play, but Sabre-Rider was special in that he truly believed in the potential for democratic teamwork even in competitive scenarios such as fighting and sword-play. Sabre-Rider rode on his mechanical horse Easy, and he wanted his Star-Sheriffs to destroy that evil capitalism-tower in Hong Kong and restore commerce-optimism. Sabre-Rider was more or less the saviour of the future...and capitalism itself.

Sabre-Rider and the Star Sheriffs all wore impressive metal armor body-suits and helmets. The team was comprised of four members in all including Sabre-Rider. Each member flew in their own space-craft and rode their own unique mechanical animal. Sabre-Rider rode his horse easy and was therefore skilled at striking down enemies with his classic sword while running by them on Easy. The space-crafts of the Sabre-Riders encircled the evil Hong Kong capitalism tower, taking turns firing lasers at its top and bottom to destabilize it. Sabre-Rider then jumped onto the roof on Easy off his space-craft and began fighting the guardsmen who were on the roof at that point. The Star Sheriffs provided backup/support.

After Sabre-Rider and the Star Sheriffs destroyed that evil capitalism tower in Hong Kong, people of Earth rejoiced. Capitalism once again felt like a daydream instead of a nightmare. That evil tower in Hong Kong was a more ominous rendition of the Tower of Babel, so it really had to be destroyed. As humans rejoiced, software-designers developed Sabre-Rider laptop and smartphone-app video-games which captured all the adventure and intrigue of the Star Sheriffs tackling the venomous evil infrastructure/machinery of that evil capitalism tower in Hong Kong. The video-game became very popular.

A mayor of Hong Kong awarded Sabre-Rider with a vintage 20th Century Disney wrist-watch with silver-metal wrist-band. Sabre-Rider loved the watch and admired/appreciated the two images on the face of the watch of the iconic Disney characters Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse. Sabre-Rider understood the Disney watch-gift from the Hong Kong mayor symbolized all the capitalism/commerce idealism involved with a more 'spiritual' approach to consumerism and merchandising and therefore ethical trade/business.

GOD: I'm so glad we have Sabre-Rider to save capitalism!
SATAN: The video-game about his triumph became quite popular.
GOD: Consumerism creates its own brand of imagination/customs.
SATAN: That evil capitalism tower in Hong Kong was a 'Tower of Babel.'
GOD: Remember when the World Trade Center was destroyed on 9/11?
SATAN: Yes, that was a devastating world-event on Earth...
GOD: Perhaps Adam and Eve are becoming more aware of the flaws of capitalism.
SATAN: It's challenging making capitalism a system of purity.
GOD: Maybe media-celebrities should use the social forum to espouse merchandise!
SATAN: Remember when celebrity Tom Cruise endorsed Scientology in the media?
GOD: Yes, there were scandalous rumors that Cruise divorced his wife over religion.
SATAN: Even media-celebrities care about the circulation of gossip in media...
GOD: Consumerism creates its own form of etiquette and aesthetics.
SATAN: That was the basis of that evil tower in Hong Kong --- 'fineries.'
GOD: Maybe that Sabre-Rider video-game will symbolize commercial intellectualism.
SATAN: Just imagine what would've happened if Sabre-Rider and his Star Sheriffs failed!
GOD: Let's be relieved that capitalism will always have 'defenders' (e.g., Gulf War).
SATAN: Do you think capitalism-warfare will be likened to Armageddon?
GOD: Well, war based on competition/profit can never be 'smooth.'
SATAN: That's why the Star Sheriffs' attack on the Hong Kong tower was monumental.
GOD: Are you a fan of video-games?
SATAN: I like the Microsoft Xbox.
GOD: Let's go watch the movie Ghost in the Machine on Netflix!
SATAN: Maybe consumerism is a lot like Scientology ('empirical bazaars').
