Romney likes to fire people

Its rather distrubing to watch the propagandists on the right using their own disreputable lying techiques on their brethern
Well...that and rather sad for the nation, too.

Of course this flap over Romeny's taken out of context quote is rather typical of today's childish nature of national politics.

It's all about who can be the most intellectually dishonest and still get enough rather stupid voters to buy into the obvious lies.

Now clearly I'm not going to be casting my vote for Romney.

But the disnonesty of this campaign to twist his words rather digusts me anyway.

Disguest but does not surprise me, of course.

This sort of crap is now typical of the game.

Ed and Ravi-

Yesterday, David Axelrod said "I like to be able to fire people" was a 'rare moment of candor' on Romney's part. So it isn't just the right jumping on him for this.

By October, when the clip is put at the beginning of a commercial with crying AmPad and GST Workers, no one is going to remember or CARE what the context of "I like to be able to fire people" is.

That assumes, of course, that he doesn't say something equally tone deaf between now and November that will be even jucier.

So, there are dumb partisan assclowns on both sides of the political fence. Wow. That's news to me..... not.

Oh crap. I agree with you. Other than not voting for Romney, which I may well do.

But your point about the dishonesty and childishness that abounds in our politics makes us the laughing stock of the world. It's fucking embarrasssing to be an American at times. It really is.

It doesn't surprise me one bit though, Ed.

NASHUA, N.H. — Republican front-runner Mitt Romney stumbled down the homestretch of the New Hampshire primary on Monday, declaring, “I like being able to fire people who provide services to me” as his rivals intensified already fierce criticism.

“Gov. Romney enjoys firing people. I enjoy creating jobs,” said former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, who has staked his candidacy on a strong showing in Tuesday’s primary and has shown signs of gaining ground in recent polls.

Rivals pounce as Romney says: “I like being able to fire people who provide services to me’ - The Washington Post

It was an unbelievably stupid thing to say..and it's coming back hard in the general..you can bet on it. Given his past..in which he did fire people..he should have never brought this up.

Romney's been choking lately..and hard.

No, it was a fantastically stupid thing to say...

Romney put the "Kick me" sign on his back, don't whine because people are kicking him.

But yeah, you have a point that it wasn't the smartest thing in the world to say, especially with this soundbite driven electorate, and considering who is trying to take him down.

I am surprised how the left is twisting these words around.
Ed Schultz tried to do the same for a minute at the start of his radio show yesterday
but pulled back and said Oh I see what Romney meant.

Every show on MSNBC last night went with the angle that Romney
enjoyed breaking up companies cause it meant he got to fire people.
What he said was clearly not that.

Democrats. Why let something like the truth get in the way.

Maybe because it was a Fruedian Slip.

frankly, I can't imagine anyone who likes to fire people. I've had to fire people. Not hundreds like Romney. I've always felt horrible afterwards.

But that's probably because I was brought up Catholic.

Nothing to do with being Catholic or not. It's empathy. I've been fired and done firing. Romney has only ever had one side of the equation to worry about. And he's never worried about being able to pay a mortgage or feed his kids.

You understand he did not say "I like to fire people", right?

Romney will be the posterboy for American stupidity if this gains traction. People can't even speak their own language, and they want immigrants not to speak it too.

If I where a business owner I would like to be able to fire people too, not have a union on hand to protect the lazy bastards who do nothing and cost me money. Most people out here in the real world know exactly what romney meant, only a tad bit of common sense would explain it to you from a business owners point of view.

I know exactly what he said and the full context of it which is why I am not attacking him for it. That doesn't change the fact it left the door open for this kind of a soundbite attack for the reasons I stated above.

Exactly. As a consumer I want to be able to fire people who don't do a good job for me. That was what Romney meant. Huntsman is either too stupid to know this or intentionally lying.
Have I mentioned recently Huntsman would be right at home in the Democratic Party?

OK, good. So it wasn't stupid. It was actually very smart and gets to the heart of the GOP: choice.
Huntsman is the stupid one here, and anyone who misinterprets what Romney said.

note they are defending Romeny?

the train is leaving the station.

They now will accept Romeny as their guy

I doubt Obama has EVER had to worry about feeding his kids either...Not really what we're looking at in a president either...More importantly, can he make jobs for people that need to feed their kids. :eusa_boohoo: I'm pretty sure anyone that can make 4 out of every 5 businesses work and makes close to a hundred thousand jobs shows he can.

I'll have to look under the cushions of my other couch.

Did you hear Gingrich complaining about the UNFAIR advantage Romney had from being rich?

Gingrich earned his money the old fashoned way.

By selling influence.

Romney earned his money the new way.

By looting American companies and shipping their jobs overseas.
Obamaturd got his money from socialists.

Romney looted American companies and sent their jobs overseas.

He does like to fire people.

22% of the companies he invested in went bankrupt.

LOL. Another know-nothing spewing ignorance on the interwebs. Pick up a book or do a search on what a PE is, what they do and how they enormously benefit the economy on the WHOLE.

If not for Bain and companies like Bain, not only would those 22% have gone bankrupt but a lot more would have gone bankrupt and millions of jobs would have not been created.

So... 78% were a success?

And you call that a bad number. What a logical back flip...

This was during the 1990's, where screwing up a company was kind of like messing up mashed potatoes...

Like Pan Am
or Bugatti Auto
or Marvel entertainment
or Schwinn Bicycle
or Woolworth's

All Romney's fault I bet.

Businesses come and go all the time. Some win, some lose.

Private equite companies are hugely important and just because some of you are ignorant to the facts and business realities doesn't mean you should spew misinformation all day long.

We get it. Romney is a Mormon. You don't like Mormons. Stick with the facts.
