Republicans Lose Impeachment Vote

The border bill does not allow 5000 illegals to enter the nation. It states that if a certain number of illegals are “encountered“ at the border, the border may be shut down. The Border Bill does not permit unrestricted immigration as Trumpers would have you believe.
It's still "at will" of the POTUS. It's not automatic.

That is more power than the president has now. You should be in favor of the bill. Allowing the president to shut down the border is a power that every president should want. But you all have killed it for some unfathomable reason.

Republicans caused the border issue. They've been advertising it is an open border since Biden was elected.

Biden called their bluff and squarely stuck it up their asses.
Pretty much, and the GOP just doesn't have a clue why it always works out in embarrassing defeat.

Johnson should have never scheduled this vote unless he knew he had the votes.

Now I will say it's possible he was told he did but some switched to embarrass him.

A House GOP effort to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas failed in an embarrassing fashion Tuesday as three Republicans joined Democrats in voting against what would have been the second-ever impeachment of a Cabinet official.

The 214-216 vote is a stunning loss for a GOP that has faced continual pressure from its right flank to impeach a Biden official, even as the party has waffled over which one to focus on.

The failure came about because of the surprise appearance in the chamber of Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), who showed up unexpected to vote against the bill.
Let's see, not one cabinet secretary impeached during the Trump, Bush Jr, Bush Sr, Reagan, and Nixon administrations. Lotsa resignations, but no one impeached.
And let's see, Republicans want to impeach a cabinet secretary over an issue they created and refuse to help solve.....sure, that's a great use of the House's time.
I swear, Republicans (save for a few notable exceptions) to a man and woman are USELESS! :auiqs.jpg:

So the border will be “shut down” once 5000 illegals are encountered? Why not shut it down to illegals, period?

The Border Bill gives powers to the president that he does not have now to shut down the border if a certain amount of illegals are encountered at the border.. The fact is the expanded power of the president to shut down the border, plus the addition of more border agents and streamlined asylum process would have went an along way to alleviating this crisis. The reason MAGA oppose the bill is not because the Border Bill won’t work. It is just the opposite. MAGA s fear it will work.

At least the DNC Democracy remains intact, no real opposition party.

Counting votes... I was just gonna say that. The GOP House has had this probably a lot lately.

LOL....The gop could not even snatch the low-hanging fruit. :laughing0301:

Any word on who the gop half-wits that voted with the leftists were?

Rep. Tom McClintock (RINO-CA) and Rep. Ken Buck (RINO-CO), Rep. Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin joined the Dem Party.
