Read it if you dare.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

We were pulled very hard to the left after Obama was elected so an equal push back from the right is nothing to be surprised by.

Obama is actually considered center more than he is considered left.

No extreme left president would extend tax cuts?

Not unless it was good for the economy.
Get that?
He knows that tax increases are bad for the people and the economy, do you?
In fact, Mr Obama is actively campaigning for an extension of the SS tax cut because he knows (deep down inside) that tax increases are not beneficial.

And the result of thinking and acting that was was the 2010 midterms. The peoples voice WAS heard.

are you so sure? look at what Ohio just did with the collective bargaining.

Not to be rude but I don't give a shit about politics in Ohio. I'm not bound by their laws.

Not to be rude, but the midterms elected house and senate members, of which some came from Ohio. So what happens in Ohio does have relavence on the national stage as Ohio politicians will shape the debate in Washington.

Is there anyone on this board who's old enough to have ever seen a conservative federal budget?

I'm 26, every budget I've been alive for by reps and dems has been radical left.

I tend to follow with Churchill's ideology on that.

"Can a people tax themselves into prosperity? Can a man stand in a bucket and lift himself up by the handle?"

And what of the democratic states that have done the same damn thing?

Your partisanship is showing, pull up your pants.

How convenient of you to ignore the fact that the only reason Obama agreed to TEMPORARILY extend all of the Bush tax cuts was to get an extension of UE benefits. It's no secret that Obama wants to let them expire for the top earners. He says it practically everyday. And guess what? A majority of Americans - left, right and center - agree with him.

From the article in the OP

Some of the smartest and most sophisticated people I know—canny investors, erudite authors—sincerely and passionately believe that President Barack Obama has gone far beyond conventional American liberalism and is willfully and relentlessly driving the United States down the road to socialism. No counterevidence will dissuade them from this belief: not record-high corporate profits, not almost 500,000 job losses in the public sector, not the lowest tax rates since the Truman administration. It is not easy to fit this belief alongside the equally strongly held belief that the president is a pitiful, bumbling amateur, dazed and overwhelmed by a job too big for him—and yet that is done too.

No partisanship at all. Given the Democrats ideology I expect them to vote that way. When the Republicans do it, it is eye opening because it goes against everything they say they want.

DAVID FRUM: We Republicans Have Completely Lost Touch With Reality

My thoughts on this?

He seems to be very correct, the republican party is a mere shade of its former self, and has moved from right of center to extreme right.

What caused this?

IN OTHER WORDS WHERE HAVE THE ESTABLISHMENT REPUBS GONE?

The ones that rolled over on Dem demands at beck and call.

Hopefully those days are over. As a labeled terrorist. They are no where close to far right.

no, where have the rational Republicans gone?

A Faustian bargain with the radical right, religious fundamentalists, and social conservatives – much to the detriment of the Nation.

Exactly that's why we should take what american politicians say over what they do,since they are always 100% perfectly honest.

Whenever a rep or dem gets in front of a podium, walks around with a microphone, or gets tv air time, I know the truth is coming out.

And how ignorant of you to not understand that I was talking about Social Security tax.
You know, the SS tax that Mr Obama reduced and is now campaigning to reduce again.

How dishonest of you. From your own post:

"He knows that tax increases are bad for the people and the economy, do you?"

You see? That is a generalization. You did go on to use the SS tax as an example, but it is clear that you were not referring exclusively to the SS tax.

The Republicans lost touch with reality when Reagan started doubling the National Debt by lowering taxes for the rich.
