Donald Trump says that the effort to remove him from the ballot in Colorado was brought by partisan Democrats. The facts differ significantly from what the former president has claimed.

In reality, the charge has been led by one former Republican legislator.

For most of two decades, Norma Anderson was in Colorado state government, first the House of Representatives and then the Senate, leaving the Senate in 2006. She served as Republican Party leader, both when they were the minority in the Senate, and the majority in the House — and she believes Donald Trump is ineligible for the presidency.

Her name, in fact, is the lead name on the lawsuit to take him off the ballot in her state, and she was researching the possibilities even before the 14th Amendment issue began garnering mass attention.

It helps that she keeps multiple copies of the U.S. Constitution in her house, and maintains familiarity with its contents. The Sentinel Colorado reported:



“It doesn’t matter if someone is a conservative or not; what matters is whether you like and support Donald Trump. Republicans have lost their way with Trump, and this is not the Republican Party any more.”

She’s just not willing to bow to Trump’s brand of extremism or to stand idly by while her country does so.

On Thursday, her case against Trump will be presented before the U.S. Supreme Court.
