Percentage of Young People Who Vote Democrat is Shrinking Precipitously

Not so many years ago, I remember reading articles about the Democratic Party losing members in large numbers, and yet the democrats did very well in 2020 and better than many expected in 2022. One can blame it on election fraud, but it appears a whole lot of people voted for democrats despite the apparent loss of support. So, I read this stuff with a grain of salt and BTW there's a lot of time between now and Nov 2024. Will all those young people vote or not? They may not like Biden or the democrats, but maybe they don't like Trump and the GOP either.
Trumpers love these types of articles and they are part of their regular series of frequently posted topics.

It changes between Latinos, Hispanics, blacks, and young people etc, but it always is the same thing; these groups are leaving the Dem party blah blah blah.

I guess it just makes trumpers feel better about themselves if they are made to feel more and more people think like they do. It's pretty much a cult type thing.

If even a quarter of these articles were accurate, nobody would be voting democrat except a couple of middle aged white hippies in Portland.

Doesn't mean they're all becoming Republicans. Most are probably not.

But the honeymoon with ole' Joey is clearly dead and buried.

Republicans don't need their votes, but Dems desperately need them to show up.

Thus the mail-in ballot/early voting schemes.

More time to round up otherwise apathetic voters.

Things could get interesting, folks.
Well, that certainly explains the "Red Tsunami™".

Oh wait...

Midterm exit polls show that young voters drove Democratic resistance to the ‘red wave’

.

It is not the position for the Dems, you are correct, but it is in general a left leaning position.

Except that's not true.

It's a more libertarian issue, that can fall into either the Left or Right quadrants of that ideological graph that most people on here are probably well familiar with.

So, for example, I would have never been a Republican in the 80s.

The influence of the Moral Majority over right wing politics would have been far too excessive at the time.

Now, today, do evangelicals and Christians still play an integral role in the Party? Of course they do. And rightfully so - those people are under attack by the woke authoritarian Left just as the rest of us are.

But Trump brought a lot of new people in. And even though he placed originalists on the Supreme Court (I can already anticipate your reflexive "gotchas" on this), no one (except perhaps the delusional Far Left) truly imagines that America could ever become a theological state as some ambitious folks on the Right envisioned during the 1980s.

The majority of GOP voters now back gay marriage, for one thing. That alone is antithetical to any such misled notion.

But, more importantly, the Christian Right is now in a coalition with the Libertarian Right and the working/middle class MAGA right that not only eviscerates any past notions of what "the Right" is in this new MAGA era - it has redefined the Democrats as a reactionary authoritarian entity that sees any departure from its own edicts as an existential threat.

Your children will learn about porn. (Mostly gay.)

The inner cities will burn. (And if you point that out, you're a racist.)

You will trust the "SCIENCE!" (tm), despite a surplus of counter-veiling evidence, otherwise YOU WANT PEOPLE TO DIE.

And if you don't support the war in Ukraine and the intelligence agencies (something that in the past would have been more of a Leftist position, broadly speaking)? You're a Putin puppet!

That is why censorship, character assassination, and mindless ad hominem screed now define their movement.

The difference is no longer between Left and Right, it's between authoritarianism and freedom.

And while the Right's authoritarian wing still exists, its own innate nascency has dictated that its Libertarian wing is now ascendant. Trump happens to comport with both perfectly, which is why he is so successful, regardless of any bleating to the contrary by the corporate MSM.

These days, when you look at the most influential, savvy and (for lack of a better word) "cool" media - it's on the Right. Not the Left.

The Counter culture of the hippies in the 1960s (who now love the government, war, and censorship), has been supplanted by MAGA subversives in the subterranean press.

The Left, on the other hand, has been utterly subsumed by its own rampant authoritarianism to the point where it has to rely on the tactic of projection - hoping that the eccentric characteristics of Trump's personality are enough to eclipse what he actually did while in office.

All while hoping you don't notice every single move toward a one party socialistic state they have precipitated since the very moment he came on the scene.

I stop;ped reading here bc this is an interesting topic

It used to be in medieval times (which weren't half as bad as some would have us believe), the Church had a big part in running the govt. Today, that notion of the Church being involved in state matters is anathema to everyone.

But why?

Most sane people (this excludes most of DC) would say that what we have as a result of NOT having the Church involved

is.. BAD (perverts trying to sexualize children... murder of babies up to the 9th month)

Yes, most people would agree that things were better (morally and in other ways), when the Church was not left out..

and some of us know what the TRUE Church is.

This we agree on

I do not know what world you live in, but in reality there is no Libertarian wing of the GOP. And Trump has zero Libertarian leanings, he makes the left look Libertarian with his authoritarianism.

He is so successful because he has energized the authoritarian wing of the GOP, which is the true nature of the party these days.

Biden 24: If you don't vote for me, you ain't young! Can I step in the shower with your younger sister?

Joy Reid, is that you?

Let's see: No substance, evidence, or facts - but plenty of ad hominem.

Yep, you're a 2023 "Leftist". ;)

You gave your opinion, with zero supporting facts, and I gave mine.

Some how when you do it you are the next coming of fucking Moses himself, and when I do it I am Joy Ried.

Fuck off.

There is no aspect of this country where any authoritarianism is needed. At that point all freedoms are taken away.

You gave your opinion, with zero supporting facts, and I gave mine.

Except that is also false.

A large degree of my evidence was simply pointing out what the New Authoritarian Left has engaged in.

Are you denying they call people "Putin supporters" if they do not back the Ukraine war?

That is just one teeny tiny tidbit.

Until you provide a more substantive response to Post #204, you're just pissin' in the wind.

Fuck off.

So triggered.

You provided no evidence , you just spouted your opinion,.

But hey, I will give you a chance to provide some cold, hard fact.

Give me a list of all the elected members of congress that are part of the "Libertarian wing that is now ascendant."

I will be happy to wait while you type them all out since there must be so many of them.

You and I do not disagree about the left, it is the right/GOP that we disagree on

That's easy.

The vast majority of the Republican Party in the House/Governors that opposed COVID lockdowns, vaccine mandates, and censorship of the internet.

You don't have to be a capital L "Libertarian" to have one Party that vastly favors freedom more than the other.

Now you can list all the Republicans who oppose freedom.

What are you going to come up with, killing babies?

Again, that would your idea of freedom is more aligned with the Left.

We're in a new political age, and you seem to be operating under the antiquated auspices of an old paradigm.

You really don't seem to have even the most basic grasp about what's going on - do ya sport? ;)

So, you cannot name even one.

Thanks

So, you cannot name even one.

Thanks

Matt Gaetz.

Shit, his colleagues in Florida (and yes I know he's in DC, don't get jumpy) - they just cited the vaccine itself as a bioweapon.

Freedom/truth lovers one and all.

If I had all day to indulge your rampant stupidity, I would have to name hundreds.

Now, the fun part is, you get to name a freedom loving Democrat.

Just one.

You're not the sharpest tool in the shed, are you?

Matt Gaetz a Libertarian?

Once again, I'm not talking about someone being an actual Libertarian.

This is why arguing with Leftists like you is so pointless, you either create strawmen - ignore the original point - or, as in this particular case, don't even comprehend what you are reading.

And with you it appears to be because you have a very simplistic perception of politics based on labels, categories and group think.

I tried to extract you from said box by introducing you to the idea of a "spectrum" and the four quadrants that most people on here have probably known since junior high - but ya....just....don't....get it.

Like I said, Leftist. ;)

According to you there is a "Libertarian wing is now ascendant" in the GOP.

Also, according to you there are no actual Libertarians in the GOP.

There is nobody in the GOP, at least not on the national level, fighting for more freedom and less Govt intrusion than we have now.

Yep, being anti-vaccine mandate, anti-lockdowns, and anti-Government censorship, anti-IRS expansion, is not being for less govt intrusion - at least in your bizarro Leftist world.

Perhaps I should have qualified the "wing" thing as being GOP voters (which is what I actually meant.) But at least I bothered to answer your intellectually dishonest question.

Another thing I have noticed with you Lefties, is you're like bots.

You ask questions - not with any intellectual honesty of course, but as a "Gotcha!" move - and when answered, you receive a counter-question you completely ignore to harp on about a point you made that was already rebutted or responded to.

IE, I asked you to name one freedom promoting Democrat in Congress.

It must suck being a Leftist, all that mental illness.

But, make no mistake, you walk like a duck and quack like a duck. ;)

And yet at the same time they support companies being punished by the government for disagreeing with said government, they support tarrifs and the Govt picking winners and loser in business. They support the government being more involved in our lives in all sorts of ways.

So, yeah I guess if you are comparing Repubs to Dems they are more "libertarian" but I refuse to use that measuring stick. That is how we got into this fucked up place to start with, the "less evil" is still fucking evil.

If those GOP voters voted for people with libertarian leanings you might have a point, but instead we get Trump.

Sorry if your own words embarrass you and you have to keep changing them, but that is not really my fault
