This moron bought raffle tickets for an AR-15 to destroy it when he won it.....and then proceeded to break the law by transfering the rifle to a friend without getting a background check...something he probably supports...now...because he is a good gun grabber, he will not be prosecuted for his crime.....

Oregon Pastor Cleared of Illegal AR-15 Transfer - The Truth About Guns

“A suburban Portland pastor who won an AR-15 rifle in a raffle and then said he gave it to a gun-owning friend for safekeeping will not be prosecuted for transferring the weapon without conducting a background check,” bendbulletin.com reports. “Officials were investigating whether Rev. Jeremy Lucas [above] may have violated a recent state law that makes transferring a gun without a background check illegal, even if the arrangement is between private parties and no money changes hands.”

The Po-Po and Co. decided there wasn’t enough evidence to prosecute. Apparently, the fact that Rev. Lucas told The Washington Post that he’d transferred the gun illegally — after spending $3k of church funds to buy enough raffle tickets to win the gun and, thus, to keep the AR-15 “off the streets” — couldn’t be verified by the authorities.

So does that mean you endorse background checks in all states?

It just shows libs want laws for other people to obey while they feel free to ignore them at will.

Make up your mind. Either you think background checks should be done or not. Which is it?

It doesn't matter what I think on this case....this asshole supports background checks for every gun transfer...then he transfered a gun without a background check...he should suffer the consequences since that is what he wants to happen to other, law abiding gun owners.....

Dumb move by the pastor. He's correct though. In many states you can sell as many guns as you want to a felon and if you never run a background check on him you can't be prosecuted.

Sorry.....you can't sell guns to a felon.....the pastor broke the law they had just passed......he should be in jail......he wants normal, law abiding gun owners punished for doing what he did.........

If he felon is caught then they can do a sting on the seller....not a problem....they catch an illegal gun trafficker the same way they catch a drug seller....

Also, moron......criminals currently use someone with a clean record to buy their guns at gun stores, because they can pass background checks.....they will use the same individual with a clean record to buy from a private seller if they want the gun that is being sold....so background checks fail even in private sales...

But...morons like you know that you can use universal background checks to get gun registration...which is the only reason you want universal background checks.

The felon, when caught, can and will be arrested, since the felon knows they cannot buy, own or carry a gun......and if the seller is knowingly selling to criminals, the police can then go set up a sting and arrest him too......just like they do for every other crime...and that setting up that sting does not require licensing gun owners, registering guns or mandating useless universal background checks on private sales...

And of course you did not comment on the fact that the same straw buyer at the gun store can also buy the gun from a private seller...since they can pass any background check....

moron.

If a seller does not run a background check then they can't be said to be knowingly selling to a felon. The end.

Also, thank you gun control for being able to arrest felons who illegally buy a gun and for making it harder for them to get a gun by requiring a background check at the places where it is most easy and convenient to buy a gun.

Wrong....the felon can be arrested on the spot when they are caught, they will then ask the felon where he got the gun, and then address the seller...if the seller is knowingly selling to criminals, they will arrest him too.....and that can all be done without universal background checks, which as I have shown you will be bypassed easily by criminals, and without registering guns or licensing gun owners....

you just want to punish normal, law abiding gun owners.....

Please.......try to answer the question I put to you before.....

If a criminal will use someone with a clean record to buy a gun at a gun store...a straw buyer, because they can pass a background check....how does making the individual seller do a background check at a private sale stop the criminal from using the same straw buyer for that sale as well.......

We are waiting for your less than intelligent answer.......

We have laws that say a felon can't buy, own or carry a gun.....why do you applaud an actual law that works.......it is asswipes like you that let these morons back on the street over and over again...that is the problem...not normal gun owners selling a gun so they can buy a new one....

Yes in your very specific scenario it does not work. Though the straw seller can argue in court that he had no idea the buyer was a felon, and no court can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they did.

And that is why the police conduct the sting.........they already do that and actual gun traffickers are being arrested the old fashioned way.....another criminal snitches on them....

The virtue of this method...it does not make a criminal out of a law abiding gun owner......you simply want a way to arrest normal gun owners who fail to jump through a bureaucratic hoop that does nothing to actually stop straw buyers....

You want to target, attack and punish normal, law abiding gun owners....I want to put actual gun criminals in jail for 30 years....your method fails every single time...my method ends gun violence.....but you don't care about the violence....you just hate gun owners...
