He came into the forefront of public consciousness when Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama’s controversial pastor, named him in 2007 as the preeminent influence on his on theology.

Do we really want a president that attends a church founded on an ideology that seeks this?

I doubt that's the case so my next guess would be, you can't find any real dirt on Obama except that his pastor has unpopular political views, hence your view right now is pretty unpopular but I am sure that your pastor, and all of your friends agree with you on every political issue. not all white people owned or supported slavery, but that doesn't matter to those that support obama's racist church that believes black values are more important than any other value system. are whites not allowed to have a white value system simply because some whites owned slaves? simply because black africans sold those slaves and before the industrial revolution, slaves were an important part of the world economy? african slaves were sold all over the world, but it is white america that bears nearly all the guilt. arab countries bought/owned/sold slaves longer than white countries, including america, but you don't boo about that.

black theology does not have any biblical support, as such, it should not be apart of any christian church. it is heretical.

Good grief, the slave trade existed in all races and cultures. North American Indians had slaves, Romans had slaves, Jews had slaves, Asians had slaves, Arabs had slaves....IT'S NOT A WHITE THING. America was just the last "developed" (at the time) country on the block to criminalize it.

Speaking of which, the Roman slaves actually had "rights" as well, which I thought was interesting. I think Jews were required to set their slaves free every seven years? (This according to my recollection of the OT)....

Anyway, to consider the oppression of black slaves as a wrong that can never be righted is idiotic, and has no meaning in the long-term view of humanity. We've all been oppressed, we've all suffered as races at the hands of other races (good grief, think of the Mongols!)

We don't have black slaves any more. We're lucky we live in a country that allows us to make changes as needed....

I could are less what Wright says. It's wrong, and by saying things like that he's hurting his own cause by exacerbating the differences between us and inciting blacks to hate whites....but that goes on a thousand times a day. The difference is that our slavery was based solely on race, and there was no opportunity, for the vast majority, to ever become free. Often times, when someone tried to free their own, even their own children, they were thwarted, in law and in actuality......

This case, starting on page 92, Ford v. Ford, is an example of that. See especially, the bottom of page 93, starting with the line:

could it be that it was about race because black africans were the only or majority race selling their own people? if i recall, during that time, chinese were not treated well at all, nor were indians. i don't think it was so much black racism, as white superiority over "savages." and the color of the savage did not matter as much as their being savage.

Which means what, exactly? That we should pay eternally for having slaves, after fighting the BLOODIEST WAR IN AMERICAN HISTORY TO FREE THEM, and employing affirmative action until we're blue in the face?

I don't think there's any danger of American legalizing slavery. Maybe you should focus some of that resentment towards Mexico, Africa and the middle East where the slave trade is alive and well. Middle class America isn't smuggling kids across the borders with their bellies full of heroin. Middle class America isn't starving and selling little black kids in Africa. And we're not buying them, either.

The fact is, we're the best place in the world for minorities, and that's why minorities from all over the world flock to us. No matter how much you complain and point fingers and cry that it's not good enough, and we "deserve" whatever shitty attitude we get, it's just racism based on events that happened years ago. You're no more justified in expecting remorse and shame and special treatment from whites because they held slaves than you would be justified in expecting remorse, shame and special treatment from the blacks who originally sold whole villages into slavery.

And who are still doing it. When they don't just kill them outright.

There are actually still slaves in the USA, Allie. A few of the big farm conglomerates in my state have been busted for it.
