NYC sends state tax to Albany and Albany doles out the cash statewide. The majority of New Yorks tax revenues does not come from upstate..it comes from NYC. By the way..NYC has it's own taxes to pay for it's own services. SOooo..that means we pay for YOU and US.

What do you think happens to taxes once you pay them? They go into some magical pot of gold?

They go to pay for stuff. In New York..we pay three taxes from our incomes...Federal, State and City. Those taxes go to their respective levels of government then to pay for various Federal, State and City expenses.

New York City would be in the serious red column if we only paid for ourselves. Instead of funding the Federal and State governments. New York is one of the few states that gets back less then what they put in..and New York City gets less back then what it puts into the state.

And add to that there are people from other states that work in NYC but don't pay taxes for the city. That means we provide transportation services for people living in New Jersey, Pennslyvannia and Connecticut. And you also have to factor in the extra expenses in terms of security here..since 9/11. We get hit pretty fucking hard.

If you are truly a property owner in NY as I am you would be well aware as to why your taxes went up.
It had NOTHING to do with the Bush Tax cuts and you know it...and if you dont know it, then you are not a property owner in NY.

It sounds like you are taking credit for Downstate being what it is.

Personally, I see Central NY as the place to be for quality of life...the route 81 corridor is a dream to me....binghamton to Syracuse...and then west on 90 to Rochester....beautiful country with people that say hello in Wegmans.....

Western NY is a bit depressed...Bufflo has some fine people....but it is not a very healthy area financially.

Long Island, where I live is the best if you like the ocean...and I do......
