Now it is four cops who didn’t go in.

You are a bunch of scared little children who won't admit you are wrong. You just hide behind your guns while so many die. You told us magazine capacity didn't matter and these semi-auto rifles weren't so dangerous. Now these are the very weapons regularly used for the worst mass shooting in history. Over 50+ deaths isn't that dangerous? You clowns have been spewing BS for far too long.
Now they tell us armed teachers will save our children when cops are even hesitant to engage

Some cops were hesitant to engage, others were not. Armed teachers may not save our children, but we can be absolutely certain that unarmed teachers will not save our children.

the witnessing of the 4 sheriffs not going after and engaging the perp

only goes to show you that you can not depend on the government for your safety

actually failure to protect has been to the SC

and law enforcement won

Tell me again about how we are supposed to trust the cops to protect our kids?

Actually, there were four police officers waiting outside the school

The police have no constitutional duty to protect anyone. They will always turn out to protect each other.

More cops rushed to defend a disgraced fellow cop, than rushed in to save the kids.

So why are we even discussing leaving it to the cops anyway?
Yea....

And Dumb Donnie says teachers would have kicked the kids ass

And why not? If teachers are heroic enough to shield children with their own bodies, it wouldn't be a stretch to believe that one armed with a gun would have a steady enough aim to take him out.

That’s funny. When the Soviets fell the Socialist/Communist leaning folks complained that the failure was because it wasn’t big enough.

No, nobody actually said that.

The Soviets fell because they were an empire, not a socialist state. All empires fall eventually.

When Venezuela inevitably falls the same excuses will be broken out. That’s the problem with a flawed theory. It would succeed if only it was bigger.

No, nobody said that, either. Venezuela is in trouble because it's a one commodity economy and the rest of the world is punishing it for a decade.

The cops say guns in the hands of citizens is the best defense. So are they influenced by the NRA?

Um, yeah, they are.

To Recruit Cops, the NRA Dangles Freebies Paid for by Gun Companies

Awards and prizes are just one way that the NRA reaches out to law enforcement, a constituency that’s shaping up as a key voice in the debate over gun control. In 2011, the gun group launched a slick recruiting program called NRA Life of Duty, which offers complimentary memberships and insurance benefits, training opportunities, and steep product discounts to public safety officers and members of the military. The cost of these premium memberships are covered by individual and corporate sponsors such as the gun maker Colt’s Manufacturing, firearms supply house Brownells, and the weapons training company Tactical Response—whose CEO, James Yeager, recently went ballistic on YouTube. (Yeager earnestly claimed that he was “going to start killing people” if the government went “one inch further” in its gun restrictions—a tirade that prompted Tennessee to suspend his handgun carry permit.)

Every creature on earth understands self defense. A cornered rat. A rabbit caught by the coyote kicks and screams and tries to get away.

Only humans would argue that remaining defenseless is the best defense. Only humans would pretend the instinct of self preservation is wrong.

Letting the adults in the school carry a gun may make no difference. But at least they have the tools to defend themselves. They have a chance. It is obvious that relying on police is asinine. It is equally obvious that banning the scary weapons won’t work.

But explain this. If rounding up ten million illegal immigrants is too hard, too expensive, how easy will it be to round up a hundred million semiautomatic rifles?

No need to round them up......just make them illegal to have like Australia did

Offer a buy back....it is cheaper than a wall

Those that keep them face the consequences when found with them

Agree in a case where a teacher is battened down with a gunman trying to get in

I think expecting teachers to openly engage an active shooter with superior firepower is unrealistic

For Trump to think armed teachers would storm that building when armed deputies wouldn’t is gun lover fantasy

This is awful. That Sheriff needs to be recalled.

New York did that. Massive noncompliance with SAFE Act

It went pretty much as you would predict. So when are they going door to door?

The city police went in. The Sheriff Deputies did not. Maybe the city cops had kids at the school?

On the other hand, if he didn't live in a massively leftist county, which would never consider holding him responsible and removing him from office, he wouldn't be sheriff in the first place.

I am unsure of the training of the deputies. It very well could be they did exactly what they were trained to do in such a shooting situation. If that is the case perhaps they just need a new sheriff and improved training. It is also possible that they were all followers and wanted a leader to take the lead on what to do. My guess is they had no training at all and never thought the situation would come up and they were all scared to do anything. A police officer not only has to worry about his life but he has to worry about something going wrong and having to face a trial where arm chair officers decide if they made the right decision or not. When there is a shooting in a school there is going to be some things go wrong and police officers are an excellent target for the media to blame.

The sheriff is denying this, basically calling Coral Springs police liars. I don’t believe him.

I doubt anyone feels a teacher should storm a building. What a teacher could do, is keep the children under her/his care in a room, guarding them with a gun.

After Columbine, police training changed to include confronting the attacker. As for training, I live in an area where the entire county population is 70,000 people and our police have active shooter training sessions.

Also, it is my understanding that this school district is one of the largest in the US. If they don't have active shooter training, someone needs to lose their job.

I have been retired for some time but I would think that training for an active shooter would have a different action than training for an active shooter in a school.

Yeah, and what good is it having a police officer permanently stationed at a school if they run and hide when the children need them most? I mean, why have a 'Resource Officer?' Their sole duty should be to protect the children. The 'Resource Officer' at Parkland clearly failed to do his job. He could have saved kids' lives. Shame on him.
