Packerland!
Brinksmanship takes two, at least. Mr. President, YOU were the one who refused to compromise. Stop lying. I for one will not forget who put his ego over the good of the country and refused to even consider delaying the burden you have put on us with the ACA.

Nope - if someone puts a gun to your head and demands that you do something - that doesn't take two and it's not "brinksmanship." It extortion.

GOP cooked up this power play.
They changed the House rules to prevent a last-minute reprieve

They own it - 100%.

One of the very few problems I can say that about - but THIS time the shoe fits.

"You don’t like a particular policy or a particular president, then argue for your position. Go out there and win an election." BHO, 10/17/2013

MY representatives WON their elections and they argued their position. They were doing their job. YOU were the one who declared that he would not do his job. YOU were the one who declared that you were willing to take the nation to default. You were the one who smugly welcomed the shut down because you thought you could score political points off of it. Quit lying. No, on second thought, keep lying. Your complacent voters will stay home in 2014 like they did in 2010 and our fired up people, spurred on by your lies and fresh evidence of your administration's abusive tactics and general incompetence, will return to the polls and vote our representatives in again. Just keep lying.

Compromise on Congress doing its job?

What "compromise" did Republicans bring to the table?
Demands are not compromises

The spin is strong in this one

Anyway you cut it, Republicans made an endless series of demands or else they would shut down the Government.....Obama said no

Republicans then made additional demands or they would cause a US debt default.....Obama said no

Republicans then groveled and begged the Democrats to save their ass

I worry about people who can't tell the difference between extortion and brinksmanship.
Don't invite them to your poker party.

In Obama?

True.

No one was holding any gun. More Obama/Reid-style dishonesty.

Republicans were keeping their promises to the people who elected them.

Democrats were insisting on holding an arbitrary, defenseless segment of the population to the ACA in spite of the fact that they knew the ACA was not ready for prime time. Well, they knew or they should have known. If they did not know they give more evidence for how inappropriate it was for them to claim authority over that part of our lives.

That gives me one more thing to thank them for. Keep lying, Mr. Obama, and to all of you Democrats, keep showing us how wrong we would be to trust the kind of government you claim is good for us.

And carping over that rules change is more dishonesty. Some Democrats voted for it. Some Republicans against. And it apparently wasn't worth complaining about for two weeks. Then all of a sudden it's a viral sensation because it gives Dems one more thing to lay on Republicans while Dems try to undermine Republicans for standing up for their constituents.

If you're going to be mad at anyone in the democratic party, it should be Harry Reid. All those House bills that got scrapped? Harry Reid. All the amendments to house bills? Harry Reid. Taking out the delay of the medical device tax? Harry Reid. Oh yeah..and how many bills did Obama veto? Zero.

Obama has played a very VERY minor role in this. Which is actually a good thing cause as we saw in 2011, Obama is actually way too passive, Reid is a much more proficient diplomat.

Do you every get dizzy when you spin that hard?

The fact that you HAVE to spin that hard tells it all.

The Tea Party cooked up this little scheme because they don't think the mainstream GOP has done enough to curb spending and shrink government. (they are right). They just don't care who they burn in the process - even themselves.

Republicans went along because they were afraid of getting primaried.

Slash and burn lunatics meet the spineless.

Both deserve the hit they are taking - they own it 100%.

Republicans lied to their constituents when they told them they could repeal Obamacare. They didn't have the votes when it was passed and do not have the votes now

This whole charade was so TeaTards could cover up the fact that they lied
