Not All Conservatives Thrilled About Romney VP Pick

I think the ironic thing about the Ryan Pick is that the Republican Establishment (again, where is Jake Starkey?) fought like mad to keep the Tea Party or someone the Tea Party liked from winning in the primaries. They sandbagged Perry, slimed Herman Cain, attacked Newt and slandered Santorum just to make sure they stayed in charge.

And now Romney has "outsourced" his campaign to Ryan and the Tea-Party... Probably couldn't find any Mexicans who wanted to do it, for Pete's Sake.

That's an interesting fantasy. You ought to see someone about it.

Come on, you were a Perry supporter. You saw how the GOP establishment turned on the guy... But I guess you have to pretend that didn't happen.

Kind of like the abused wife who explains away the black eye by saying she ran into a door.

Now that Romney has floundered and failed to get the center, he's coming back to you with flowers and candy....

Thje GOP establishment did not turn on him. He failed to motivate and mobilize people and never quite got on message.
I trust you as an authority on wife abuse.

Naw, that's all you bubba-rednecks living in trailer parks..

But to the point, the fact that he couldn't get establishment types to work with him is a large reason why he couldn't motivate people. and when the media sandbagged him on bullshit like the Todd Willingham execution, the GOP establishment went right along with it.

Now, you can go along with it all, I guess, if that's what you want to do. I refuse to go to the wall for a Mormon.

Despite general cheer among conservatives, some in that camp are apoplectic at Mitt Romney's choice of Rep. Paul Ryan as his vice presidential running mate, though they are reluctant to say so publicly.

Here -- anonymously, by his request -- is a critique of the choice by one of the country's most prominent and influential conservatives, who sent this analysis to close friends:

Here are some problems I see:

Vice president, at this moment, I don't see it. I believe when Ryan adds a top leadership job to his resume, like joining the Senate or becoming a governor, he would be presidential timber in the GOP. Today, in this election, he subtracts more than he adds.

This was supposed to be Mitt Romney's election to lose. Right now polls show he is losing. It's important to remember that Romney's top campaign staff were Charlie Crist's political staff. They took the most popular Republican governor in the U.S. and by the end of his first term, his campaign for Senate had not only crashed, Charlie Crist had to leave the Republican party! It was no surprise when I read in the New Republic that Mitt's chief strategist told folks he voted for Obama in 2008.

They were not and are not thrilled with Romney either:

From the primaries:

thats fuking it, talk about shoving me into the abyss? Romneys out.....and I aint kidding. Hes as phony as Cater anyway....*shrugs*

And because Obama could play Romney like a cheap fiddle. Romney is a RINO. And that's what Obama wants.

EXACTLY. Obama wants a 'squishy' Repubican that can be manipulated like Juan McCain in the form of Romney. (Which I see as an endorsement by Jimmah, and a huge RED FLAG to Conservatives).

Check out this give and take:

Supporting the GOPs liberal.
Shocking!!!!!
HaHa He isn't a Lib, goof.
Yes he is. I also know democrats hate to even acknowledge the blue dogs in their mitts.

Romney is a liberal in disguise. You do realize that the original form of Obamacare was based off of Romneycare in Mass. Right?

Because YOU KNOW as the rest of us do, that Romney has Liberal/Statist Skeletons and he is a Squishy REPUBICAN...

Another good exchange....

Another Republican bitching that they don't want Romney but unable to name a better candidate

If YOU and YOUR ilk prefer Romney, that's good enough reason to see him as damaged goods.

Here was the next post in the exchange:

In other words>? ROMENY is the best supposed polished TURD up there that the GOP Blue Bloods whom behave too much like the Democrats want...MUCH as John Mc LAME in 2008.

And NO WE aren't falling for it this time.
Uhh yes you are; you'll sit there and take it young man...and you will like it!

Tired of me beating up on the hard right? Here is Missourian who is likely the most level-headed of the bunch:
I still think he is the best choice of the candidate pool, far superior to Wind Sock Romney, who just days ago displayed just how his positions change with every shift of the political wind by failing to support the anti-public union legislation he had already previously supported, because he was scared it was now unpopular... :lame2:..."only tell them what they want to hear" Romney proved a coward once again.

Grumps:
That leaves Romney, the KING FLIP FLOPPER.

There are dozens more and if you stick around; we'll have more after the election.

Yeah, shocking. Conservatives didnt particularly like Romney, who is a centrist.
BUt of course now we've coalesced around Romney because he has the best chance of knocking out Obama, which is a sine qua non of survival for this country.

Not all Democrats are thrilled with Obama there will always be people in both parties who won't be thrilled with a candidate so I'm really not sure what your point here is.

But in Ryan's case, his negatives far outweigh the benefits...

And this is Mitt Romney, master of cost-benefit analysis.

The costs are he scares Old people, which make Florida and Virginia harder to win. He has no foreign policy experience, no military experience, no business experience and has never been a mayor or a governor, so no executive experience. Also, he has extreme views on abortion, wh ich is the last thing Romney needs right now.

The benefits are that he gets conservatives warmed up. But Romney should have already had them in the bag.

Of course, we have no idea what came up about the other guys in vetting.

So much as Romney got the nomination because the other guys were worse, the same might be said for his running-mate.

Offering places in my "LEarning to Live with Obama" seminar for disgruntled conservatives.

Says the life long democrat...

You don't like him now either. Yet you will vote for him. Just highlighting the unending stream of hypocrisy from your camp there Lucy.

You think he'll win? Care to make it interesting?

No, I like Romney. He isn't a conservative. Fine. No hypocrisy here, Mary.
Tell me why Obama deserves a second term, and don't mention Romney.

He's been a good president; not great. He's implemented programs that are assisting middle income Americans in keeping more of their paycheck by allowing the Medicare Part D donut hole to close, by allowing children to remain on their parent's insurance until adulthood, shifting the focus to preventative care which is much less expensive than acute care. On the foreign policy front, he's taken the battle to Al Quida by killing OBL and sent them deep into their caves with these drone strikes.

Forward looking, he is likely going to be able to nominate 2-3 supreme court justices and I think the center-left tract for the court is the right one.

Tell us why you're voting for the Governor; and don't mention Obama.

My son and his wife have never voted republican in their lives. Nor have they voted democrat. They were always some sort of third party voter. This year, they are voting for Romney. The choice is no longer between political ideologies with differing paths to achieve the same results of prosperity. The choice now is between free market capitalism and socialism. obama is right when he said that this election is about the direction of the country more than any other issue.

The very fact I run circles around you rhetorically puts that to the lie...

Agreed, not just Supreme Court appointments but Federal appointments overall; most of the cases are reviewed in Federal courts.

Well, um, yeah, because he really didn't... but whatever you need to tell yourself.

Again, the ODS brain disease where every criticism of a Republican has to be met with "but...but...but... Obama."
