New Jersey calling Gov. (George Bush) Christie, who says, "Good job Brownie!"

Gov. Chris Christie finally returned from Walt Disney World on Friday, but he remained in Fantasy Land at a news conference later in the day. He came to Monmouth County, of all places, to praise his administration for its work during the blizzard, giving it an A for effort and a B+ for execution.

Office of the Governor
-----------------------------------------------

Seems Gov. Christie was angry his "dinner" was interrupted. After all, a man has to eat and eat.

His family was vacationing in Disney World. Can't a man have time to do what's important? Besides, he has a Lt. Gov.

Oh, wait, the Lt. Gov. was on vacation too and not even in the state. Oops.

Now we know what happens when Republicans put people in power while screaming "Less Government!". They get "No Government".

And now, their "fiscal" Messiah has handed the next election to whoever runs against him. When leaders mismanage local disasters, people never forget. All they remember is the snow, the trash and people dying. Katrina was easy to forget. It was so far away. In New Jersey, everything is very close by, unless you're "Snowed In".

This is really dumb. What do you want him to do? Come home for the blizzard and shovel constituents driveways? Unless this guy is on record bemoaning Obama or another national figure for something just as frivolous as this nonsense I don't see how this is anything to get upset over.

It's rdean.

Seems to me if an executive needs to be in place to do something like snow removal, (when snow removal in NJ during the winter is pretty much business as usual) then there's something wrong with the system.
It's not that, though. A Lt. Gov was hired because it happened too often that the Gov was out of state with no one to fill in...now they were both out of town. A bit of mismanagement there, not to mention a waste of taxpayer money for the salary.

But Republicans are allowed to goof off and waste taxpayer money with impunity.

Yeah but, Ravi, snow removal, even in this case, isn't something a governor typically oversees, is it?

It was a snow storm in DECEMBER IN NEW JERSEY.

That is a fairly common event and the removal of same isn't something the governor needs to micro-manage.

What could his presence in office really have done to help?

What should he have done? Start shoveling?
A snow dump that large is not usual in December. It would really be no different than a gov in a hurricane state going on vacation without noticing that a hurricane was on its way.

Not nonsense at all. Christie advocated for "less" government. That's what New Jersey got. Faced with one of the most simple tasks that people rely on government for, the ability to get to work, Christie's model failed..and failed big. My office was opened and ready for business. People coming from Jersey failed to show up on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

NJ Snow Removal seemed pretty well under control. Had there been serious issues like in NYC, different measures would have been warranted. Seem's like a Straw Man Argument to me, because the situation remained under control. Fat jokes and throwing stones all you got???

Is that why you want to know who the RNC Front Runners are, so you can drag them through the mud? You're shooting blanks.

You learn a lot about a persons leadership in times of crisis. What we learned about Christie..

1. "The buck stops here": Christie is unwilling to accept responsibility for his decisions. His initial reaction, instead of saying "I will asess what went right and what went wrong and make sure it doesn't happen again" Christie said "I give the state an A for effort and a B+ for execution". I live in Monmouth County. For Christie to come here and say his crew deserved a B+ is insulting to those of us who were not in Florida

2. Acceptance of criticism: This will prove to be Christies achilles heel. He is unable to accept honest criticism of his performance. He responds by attacking his critic whether the criticism is warranted or not. Christie made hard decisions on the budget. He has to be accountable for them good or bad. In this case, his cuts resulted in substandard performance by state road crews. He needs to own up to that

3. Humility: It is great to have a take charge leader who makes the hard decisions and is not afraid to step on peoples toes. But a leader needs to acknowledge the impact of his decisions. Budget cuts hurt people and this is one area where people were hurt. Christies arrogant attack on local municipalities was totally unwarranted based on the poor performance of the state crews. Christie needed to acknowledge that having himself and the Lt Governor out of state was a poor management decision on his part

I don't have boy toy's Ravi. ;) I think he is a good Governor though. NJ is benefited by him. RW may have some valid criticism, there may be lessons learned there. The Airports were pretty much snowed in too, during the worst of it, anyway. I suspect flight would have been dangerous, and I would ask what end would have been served by such a risk?

Firefighters Battle the 2010 Blizzard in Neptune, New Jersey - CNN iReport

The Hamilton Fire Company in Neptune, NJ, documented their 60+ hours on duty during the snow emergency.

New Jersey – This Just In

When asked why he volunteers, Tanta-Nanta said, “I don’t know. We give back to the community. That’s what we do.”

----------------------------

These can't be Republicans because "giving to the community" is too much like "socialism". Besides, they would have to be "organized" and you know what that means? Uh huh ---->" Community Organizer", some of the dirtiest words possible in the Republican lexicon.

When Republicans cause government to "fail", that's proof positive government doesn't work.

Editorial: High praise from Christie | Asbury Park Press

Gov. Chris Christie finally returned from Walt Disney World Friday, but he remained in Fantasy Land at a news conference later in the day with his trademark arrogance in overdrive. He came to Monmouth County, of all places, to praise his administration for its work during the blizzard, giving it an A for effort and a B+ for execution.

It's hard to understand how the governor could have issued such grades — or any grades for that matter — just six hours after stepping off the plane from Florida. What was the basis for his assessment, other than rosy reports provided by his staff and others with a vested interest in making themselves look good? At the very least, he could have taken a little more time to objectively analyze the state's response to the blizzard.

Given that the rightwing propaganda machine has made it their followers' national pastime to nitpick every move President Obama makes,

they really should try to show a bit thicker skin when one of their own darlings gets the same treatment.

Understand your tit for tat attidude, but nitpicking nonsenselike this (or complaining about Obama's VACA, too) is wrong no matter who does it or what party they do it for.

You're too intelligent to get down in the muck with the clueless paristans, NY, you really are.

First of all because when a man wrestles with pigs, they pigs win because they're used to wwallowing in filth.

Secondly because responding to their crap only ENCOURAGES it.

Reward serious posters with your serious response.

Starve the morons who post nothing but childish niotpicking crap by ignoring their trollism.

Eventually, since what they really want is to do nothing but insult people who they imagine are as stupid as they are, they're leave or they're start to post things that aren't a waste of everybody's time.

Lead by example, mate.

Actually he's on record as a hands on, take charge problem solver. At least that's how he campaigned.

The state roads in Monmouth County like Rt 18 were atrocious a week after the snow ended. You would be driving along in your lane and then all of a sudden and without warning your lane is buried in snow and you are forced into another lane complete with traffic.
Great job Brownie!

This was one of the biggest December snowstorms to hit NJ in over 30 years so the Governor being away is not that big a deal. However, he is the chief executive. I have been called back from vacation when things have hit the fan. If I have a responsibility and I am away, it is my job to make sure that my backup is available to fill the void.

Christie is a tough guy. If one of his key subordinates was not available when a crisis arose and the best excuse was "I promised my kids I would take them to Disney World" Christie would have publically crucified him

I thought his biggest claim to fame was that he had more chins than a Chinese Phone Book. But the more I look, the more I find. The guy is a true Republican from his fat little toes to last hair on his chin chin chin chin chinny chin chin.

Gov. Chris Christie's double standard on political money | NJ.com

Turn to the list of big donors, though, and the story turns dark fast.

Ferreira Construction gave $25,000. During 2010, the firm was part of a joint venture that won $174 million in work on state highways and bridges.

George Harms Construction matched the $25,000. It won more than $130 million in state highway contracts last year.

Michael Perrucci and Douglas Steinhardt gave $22,500 each. They are partners in a firm that won contracts with three state agencies and represents major developers who are heavily dependent on public agencies.

Langan Engineering & Environmental gave $25,000. It received $2 million from state agencies last year, and a senior associate of the firm sits on the state’s Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board, which oversees cleanups of contaminated sites.

None of this is criminal. To qualify as a bribe, evidence would have to show that these payments were explicitly linked to winning government favors.

When in doubt..deflect.

This thread is about Christie.

And his administration's effectiveness in actually getting stuff done..with a smaller budget.

You know..the mantra..more with less?

No one from New Jersey made it in to the place where I worked..unless they stayed in a hotel overnight in Manhattan.

That speaks volumes.
Only if they walked from that hotel.

NYC was shut down and no one from Jersey could get into the city. So much for your BS.
