Either jurisdiction is correct, actually. The theft of the documents occurred in DC, by the obstruction of justice, lying to the FBI, and conspiring to destroy evidence, happened in Florida.

Think about that, he was in possession someone else property and refused to return it, then lied to the FBI he had it, FBI then arranged with Trump representatives to search for Government property, they found it... NO HE DIDN'T. There was no SCIF there, and even his tapes said he didn't have the right to declassify. NO ONE has the right to have classified documents in their residence, even when they live in a private home. Trump's residence is a pubic beach resort. The documents were stored in a ballroom, a bathroom, and in a storage room next door to a public entrance to the building.
