bolton is in his 70s.

I don't think he's looking for any roll in any republican administration.

He's free to tell the truth.

How old is Kissinger? Does he still play a role in Republican administrations... say, during baby Bush's reign?

Whatever, Dana, we both have no idea what Bolton's plans for his future are, but we're going to see what happens, and learn soon enough about the tenor or Bolton's testimony. For the time being I would guess he'll depict the goings on as the doings of a businessman who innocently thought piles of cash buy influence over countries, and who thought to act in the U.S. interest. The alternative would be to depict Trump as corrupt, and a national security risk. The latter, I hold, is rather unlikely, and avoiding it probably is a way to remain in good standing with Republican circles.
