John Boehner 'Dictatorship' Is Letting Time Run Out To Avert 'Fiscal Cliff'

Of course, it wouldn't occur to you that our representatives have a responsibility to do what is in the best interests of the American People instead of just seeking political advantage.

You think this dysfunctional shit is acting in America's best interests? It's one of the worst failures of leadership I have ever seen in any country.

Agreed, but you don't understand the exact nature of the Dysfunctional Shit.

When the President proposes a budget that even the Democrat controlled Congress refuses to pass; and the Senate refuses to consider the budget passed by the House, we have dysfunction. Now, who is providing the leadership driving this dysfunction- and what is their motive for creating the resulting chaos?

Wow another example of poison pill politics in the same thread, you might want to look into what was actually put up for a vote and called "the president's budget" and understandably voted down.

Link to the bill you are talking about and I will tell you why it was doomed from the start, their last ditch effort, the so called "plan B", failed just before they skipped town, you cannot possibly be talking about that abortion.

No, I'm talking about the bill which passed the House that extends all current tax rates. Reid refuses to put it to a vote in the Senate. But you keep harping on the Republicans inaction. Why?

H.R. 8 includes an extension of current marginal tax rates, as well as dividend and capital gains tax rates. It also extends current estate tax rates and exemption levels through 2013 and provides for an alternative minimum tax (AMT) patch, also through 2013. Without a legislative solution, all of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts will expire at midnight on New Year’s Eve.

House Passes Tax Rate Extension Act

Another poison pill bill.

H.R. 8 Leaves No Millionaire Behind but Ends Tax Cuts for a Third of Families with Children | National Women's Law Center

It is the Senate's responsibility to debate and come back with a resolution if you feel there are problem areas. But the Obama / Reid dictatorship has simply stopped the ability of our government to come up with compromise.

Your upset because the Rs bill didn't include tax loopholes in their bill? Loopholes that DID NOT EXIST under Clinton? I thought you guys hated all those loopholes. I sure do.

Come on man, you're going to have to do better than that.

Do you mean this nonsense where Obama's own speech was used as a pretext for the Dems to vote down Obama's budget proposal?

The Senate voted unanimously on Wednesday to reject a $3.7 trillion budget plan that President Obama sent to Capitol Hill in February.

Ninety-seven senators voted against a motion to take it up.

Democratic aides said ahead of the vote that the Democratic caucus would not support the plan because it has been supplanted by the deficit-reduction plan Obama outlined at a speech at George Washington University in April.

Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) demanded a vote on Obama’s budget to show that Democrats don’t support any detailed budget blueprint.

McConnell said Obama’s budget “continues the unsustainable status quo.”

He noted during a floor speech Wednesday that Democrats initially applauded the plan.

The president’s budget called for ending tax cuts for the wealthy and a three-year domestic spending freeze, saving an estimated $1.1 trillion over 10 years. Democratic senators at the time called it “an important step forward”, “a good start” and a “credible blueprint.”

No Democratic senator was willing to support it, however, after Obama discussed a more ambitious plan at George Washington University to save $4 trillion over 12 years. Republicans criticized his speech for lacking detail....

You think this dysfunctional shit is acting in America's best interests? It's one of the worst failures of leadership I have ever seen in any country.

The fiscal cliff is in the best interest of this country. Yes, there was a failure in leadership, but a bill is in place to take care of that.

There have been worse cases of leadership in other countries...lots of countries, I think just looking at Syria would be one that comes to mind.

Bullshit, America is supposed to be better than this, has always been better than this, to fall so low into this level of dysfunction is historically significant and history will judge the GOP in the harshest possible terms. Nothing good will come from this stunt and it will be the death of the GOP as a national party, maybe you will think it was worth it but I doubt it.

You're either crazy or a leftwing zealot. Both parties got us in this mess, occupied, not just the republicans. Your democrats just wants to raise taxes on the rich and not address anything meaningful with spending cuts. The republicans want no meaningful tax hikes and no meaningful spending cuts.
The fiscal cliff address both sides of the problem without any political intervention....which IS good for America in the long run, despite what you think.

I'm thinking you don't want any tax hikes....except for the rich, which doesn't address any of our problems.

The msm will portray the gop as the culprits, but make no mistake, both sides are the problem.
Historians with no agenda will duly note it

It is the Senate's responsibility to debate and come back with a resolution if you feel there are problem areas. But the Obama / Reid dictatorship has simply stopped the ability of our government to come up with compromise.

No this is just another one in a series of bills that seem alright on the surface until you dig into what it actually says to come to the conclusion that this was not a bill anyone in the house expected to pass from the beginning, more of a political statement than a sincere attempt at legislation, It might have stood a chance had it been a simple continuation of the Bush tax cuts but they added in all these gifts to the wealthy and clawbacks of tax credits to the working class and made it unpassable, on purpose.

Every single bit of this stems from the 2011 debt ceiling hostage crisis, an attempt by congress to refuse to pay for past spending in an effort to force cuts in entitlement programs and only entitlement programs.

They are the biggest drivers of deficit spending. You against living within our means?

How is spending cuts being held hostage by the debt ceiling????????????????????????????????
Crazy or a leftwing zealot

Obama's budget that was shot down was put up for vote by Pubs for purely propaganda purposes.= Pure Pubcrappe, for dupes only. The Dems had a new budget which would pass the senate- but would be filibustered like 200 other bills during the 2 years when Pubs say Dems had "total control". Lying tools...

You raise taxes on the rich because they're bloated, have gained 90% of the wealth under voodoo while the country goes to hell.

Not mutually exclusive in this instance.

At about the same time the senate passed a bill called "S. 3412: Middle Class Tax Cut Act" as a counter proposal, it has went exactly as far in the house as HR 8 went in the senate. your claims of the house being reasonable in this matter are invalid.

Your comprehension level is low....I'm saying both parties are at fault and always have, you say it's those damn republicans.
There is a bill in the senate that can be amended and at least sent back to the house...it just sits there in the senate.

Were you asleep during the whole sorry episode? Seems as if you were or simply cannot remember back that far.

The problem with the Senate bill is that raising tax rates on the wealthy is likely to result in less revenue to the government. We've seen this many times in the past and recently in the UK, France and in California. How is that reasonable? At least the R's bill did not raise tax rates on anybody.

LOL

The House of Representatives had not even voted on H.R. 8 before 'S.3412', so it was certainly not a 'counter proposal.' Reid could have worked with the people's House legislation, debated it, and come up with a resolution. This is how almost all of our law is created.

Congressman Eliot Engel : How a Bill Becomes a Law

But, as usual. Reid played dictator and told America to go fuck itself.
