Joe B rates the Democratic Field

Bernie is not a "commie" any more than freaking Denmark is-- he's a Democratic Socialist, a characterization co-populated by the likes of Willy Brandt, Nelson Mandela, Jawaharlal Nehru, Jeremy Corbyn, David Ben-Gurion, François Mitterand, Bertrand Russell, Helen Keller, Roger Waters, MLK, George Orwell, Mahatma Ghandi, Albert Einstein, Christopher Hitchens, and the current PM of New Zealand in the news recently, Jacinda Ardern.

America doesn't want European Socialism... It really, really doesn't. The Dems Nominate Commie Bernie, they will be looking at Trump until 2025.

Conflating different terms is dishonest and counterproductive, and serves only to foster ignorance. Intentionally misrepresenting your own (itself incomplete) list erodes whatever claims of objectivity you thought you came in with.

First, I'm not going to waste a lot of time on people flopping around on the deck at less than one percent who will be gone before Iowa.

Second, Bernie already stuck us with Trump once, it really looks like he wants to do it again.

Whether "America wants" or doesn't "want" something has absolute ZERO to do with your misrepresenting what they are or what they stand for. It's the same amount of dishonest either way. Ditto for what you're not going to "waste a lot of time on", and tritto for what you think the consequences are. None of those are valid reasons for dishonest characterizations.

In reverse order: (c) Sanders didn't "stick us with Rump"; ignorance and abject gullibility did that. Sanders didn't even get a fair shot to get the nomination. (b) the number 2019 is an odd number. That alone tells us all it ain't an election year. Meaning, you can in no way predict from where we sit, what's going to be happening in a year. And (a) not only did we already cover, but you just dug your own lack of credibility even deeper by doing it again. You've ensured that anyone who had any reason to suspect your thread was actually objective, now knows they can put those illusions to rest. And that makes it worthless.

What about the other 18 joe?

Thank goodness he doesn’t look at anyone else, what a brain dead commentary on the candidates so far. If that is as far as he looks into candidates, it just shows how easy he is for Democrats to manipulate.

The name is ROBERT O'Rourke because I flat-out refuse to play his self-hating-white fake Mexican game.

And the problem with Biden is the very reason why Obama picked him: he's also a self-loathing American traitor who has spent his career insulting the American public. Like that cocksucking pig recently did in America's ultimate enemy, Europe (hatred of Americans and/or being cornholed by a muslim being the only way a mincing, lazy European sub-male can achieve a sexual erection).

Biden probably has the best shot to beat trump, but now with the creepy stuff coming out (already been out but left is now acknowledging), I don’t see how he survives trump telling him to go sniff some girls hair in a debate. He could say go grab a pussy, but Biden’s stuff is on camera, all over the place. Bernie is probably gonna get the plurality of the vote, but dem establishment is planning on fighting. That fight alone is gonna piss off bernie bros who could very well choose to sit out for the actual election.

I can't see Commie Bernie getting much more than the 25% he's getting now. The real question is, do the Dems rally around Biden, or do they find someone else. Historically, the Democrats do pick that "Fresh new thing" at the back of the room - Carter, Clinton, Obama. this is kind of why I think Beto is the one to keep an eye on.

I do think Biden is another victim of the PoundMeToo insanity. I have nothing but contempt for the #MeToo movement, it reminds me of LBJ's remark that the difference between liberals and cannibals is cannibals don't eat their friends. Hopefully, we'll be over this insanity by the time next year rolls around.

Also notably Tommy Douglas, who got Canadian universal health care started.

The guy who vacationed in Cuba and the Soviet Union, and who lived on a commune, isn’t a commie? Even the Danes had to come out and say Sanders policies are more extreme than ours, we’re a capitalist country.

Correct.

My little brother's class trip went to Russia. So what? And scores of people have lived in a commune or its linguistic sister, a community. Which is irrelevant anyway since Sanders was there as a journalist, not a living member.

What the hell kind of fucked-up logic is this anyway? I once went to Iceland, that doesn't mean I can recite the freaking Norse Sagas. If I were to go to England would it make me clueless about beer? :cuckoo:

Only the cult of Ignorance could come up with this kind of shit.

I don’t think so about Beto, he’s already given two terrible answers to two different public challenges this week alone. They were cringeworthy. You had the student challenge him on his lack of charitable giving, his answer was basically I’m here and am running for public office, that’s my charity. Yesterday, I think, another voter just challenged him on his lie that he wouldn’t take any donations from the oil industry, which now his stance is he’s not going to ignore an entire industry. He’s just not adept at maneuvering politically enough. Those were challenges from his supporters, what happens when it’s hard hitting challenges from an opponent.

Idk I might be wrong but we’ll see

I know that's what you wish... but frankly, anyone would be more articulate than Trump. Trump isn't going to get the kind of passes he got in 2016.
It’s not me saying this it’s the polls. He started out strong, then dropped and has leveled off at 4-8% vs Biden 25-30% and Bernie 20-25%. He’s may try for a VP slot but the two front runner, Bid and Bern, will most likely go for someone with some intersectional cred.

These aren’t class trips. These were vacations, one was a honeymoon. He chose to go there, for fun. Got drunk on his bday and sung the Soviet anthem...this is a silly argument. The difference between communism and socialism is so minuscule, even if he doesn’t preform mental fellatio on marx every night, he’s pretty damn close to being communist.

"Silly argument" is putting it mildly. One's physical presence in a place somehow magically transmogrifies that portion of its political powers that you choose to cherrypick into the travellers' very genes. Meaning, anyone who goes to Austria becomes Hitler.

Yeah I think "silly" underdescribes that level of moronity. Again the Cult of Ignorance mentality that would shun a trip to Cuba to study Afro-Cuban music --- on the basis of disliking Castro. That's just plain ignorance. Oh shit, turn the TV off, I can't watch that baseball player because he's Cuban. And make sure I Love Lucy doesn't come on.

Ugh do you have anything besides strawmen arguments? It takes a special type of ideologue to travel to countries that we know are/were shitholes. Bernie obviously loves the political structure of those countries, even if they don’t match 100% indetical to what he believes, they are the closest. He had praise for both countries. Cuba I’m sure is a beautiful country, but so is Nicaragua, both are still shitholes with rampant crime.

Comrade Lenin called himself a democratic socialist. Democratic socialism has nothing to do with the Nordic countries. One has a single industry, Norway and their oil. The government is only a shareholder and not allowed to make any business decisions. That’s as close to socialism as the Nordic countries get.

You are actually making my point. Bernie's a commie. If the Democrats are stupid enough to run him, Trump gets a second term. Period.

This isn't complicated.

In reverse order: (c) Sanders didn't "stick us with Rump"; ignorance and abject gullibility did that. Sanders didn't even get a fair shot to get the nomination.

Wait a minute. THey let him run for the nomination of a party that he was never a member of.... and you think they didn't give him a fair shot.

America has a Socialist Party... It usually gets >1% of the vote.

(b) the number 2019 is an odd number. That alone tells us all it ain't an election year. Meaning, you can in no way predict from where we sit, what's going to be happening in a year. And

Good point, I have no idea how this is going to turn out. I know a pretty easy way to lose. Run someone just as crazy as Trump, and then tell middle class white people they need to pay reparations for the slaves they never owned.

And (a) not only did we already cover, but you just dug your own lack of credibility even deeper by doing it again. You've ensured that anyone who had any reason to suspect your thread was actually objective, now knows they can put those illusions to rest. And that makes it worthless.

Not really. I only really commented on people who were barely having a pulse right now...

Frankly, I still suspect that this will come down to Biden and Bernie...

Okay, here's where I see them. Want to make a Caveat that any of these guys would be a vast improvement over Trump.

Joe Biden- My biggest concern about Biden is his age. He'll be 76 if sworn in 2021. I think we can already see the folly of electing Septuagenarians. Reagan was clearly senile at the end of his Presidency, and Trump shows all the signs of dementia. All that said, he's probably the most clearly qualified person the Democrats have in terms of resume.

Bernie Sanders - This guy is a waste. Yes, he has some okay ideas, like Medicare for All, but frankly, he's way too far off to the left. He'll scare the straights. Also- 78 if elected? Really?

Beto O'Rourke- I kind of like this guy. He's young, he's dynamic. He fought Ted Cruz to a draw in Texas with the GOP throwing everything they had at him. A pity he doesn't have more experience.

Kirstin Gillibrand- Can't really forgive her for throwing Al Franken under the bus the way she did.

Liz Warren - Lots of good ideas, but she pretty much self-immolated on that Native American thing.

Pete Buttigeig - Sorry, being mayor of the fourth biggest city in Indiana just doesn't qualify you.

I generally agree. I also like Beto. However, I think Warren is the smartest one of the bunch - but I find her overly animated and preachy. It's still early and we have much to learn about them. I'll also be watching Kamala Harris and Cory Booker closely. I'll also never forgive Gillibrand for throwing Al Franken under the bus. He didn't deserve it and should still be a Senator. I have no use for Biden or Sanders.

Bottom line: I will strongly support any Democrat who wins the Primary. Anything to beat Trump!

It shouldn't be but you're STILL conflating a false characterization for your own biased purpose, and that's STILL the same amount of dishonest.

Again, at the risk of repetition, what you'd like to happen to him (or anyone), or what you think will happen in a given scenario, doesn't give you carte blanche to lie about what he IS. That's just dishonest, plain and simple. If you can't take a position without resorting to dishonesty, then you just don't have an honest position. Fairly simple: 1 = 1.

America has a Socialist Party... It usually gets >1% of the vote.

You seem to have just answered your own question.

If you were running for POTUS would you run with one of the only two horses that get to run the race because they have a Duopoly on it, or would you just run as a future Wikipedia footnote? Probably depends on whether you actually want the job or just want to make a "HEY LOOKA ME" point, and a rather expensive one at that.

You don't need to be an actual member of a party (whatever that means) to get its nomination. Wouldn't be the first time. A political party is a machine. It gets things done, it has influence, it has channels. That's the only reason it exists --- to grease wheels.

If you were travelling to Milwaukee, you'd presumably drive a car. Whelp, that's the same thing. Whether that car is a Toyota or a Dodge or a Volkswagen ---- you get to the same Milwaukee. You don't even need to own the car; you're simply using it to get to your objective. Don't know where people get this idea that a political party is some kind of lofty idealist collective-Borg thing. It's a tool, nothing more.

In any case you've failed to defend your position that Sanders "stuck us with Rump". That's a non sequitur.

Fairly simple. Socialist = Communist.

You guys run the Commie, you'll lose. Too many white middle class folks who despise Trump will give him a second term. Period. This isn't complicated.

In any case you've failed to defend your position that Sanders "stuck us with Rump". That's a non sequitur.

Actually, it kind of is, because Bernie Bros all went off and voted for Stein, giving Trump the election.

And now he's going to do it again.

I don't have a political party so I have no "guys" to "run" anything --- none of us do --- but AGAIN whether they win or lose has ZERO to do with your false characterizations. Whether an entity wins or loses depends on how many votes they get, or how many runs or points they score. Not whether you get to mischaracterize them. This is not rocket surgery.

And AGAIN you're deliberately misstating "Democratic Socialism" as " Socialism" and then false-equating your own strawman to "Commie", which has no meaning. Apparently because you can't deal with the starting point, so you bury your head in the sand and pretend it's something else, and that's (AGAIN) -- dishonest. Your false associations don't magically come to life like Frankenstein just because you post it on a message board.

In any case you've failed to defend your position that Sanders "stuck us with Rump". That's a non sequitur.

Bullshit. Your source?
You went out and interviewed all them Stein voters? Where is that published?

You seem to think you can just think up your own realities and it magically just ---- poof ---- appears.

As I said ............. non sequitur. Prove it isn't.

We're still waiting for the miracle.

So OP, I never did get an answer to this:

Pete Buttigeig - Sorry, being mayor of the fourth biggest city in Indiana just doesn't qualify you.

Again ----- what does?
< 35 years old: Check. Natural born citizen: Check.
End of list.

There's another list?

For that matter, similar point:

Beto O'Rourke- I kind of like this guy. He's young, he's dynamic. He fought Ted Cruz to a draw in Texas with the GOP throwing everything they had at him. A pity he doesn't have more experience.

"Experience" at what?

Again, if this is supposed to be a wish-list of probabilities instead of the objective analysis it's disguised as, what "qualifications" did Big Orange ever have? The man has literally never held a job in his life.

At this point I think Sen. Amy Klobuchar for President, and Julian Castro for Vice President.

The Politics suggest a woman from the heartland and a Latino from Texas have the experience and the temperament to bring our country together.

Joe and Bernie's time has passed; Beto and Pete too young, too inexperienced; Liz to animated and too far left; Kirsten lacks the chops and was way to quick to toss Franken under the bus. Harris is from California which is a sure vote against Trump, but would make a fine A.G. and Cory seems to lack broad appeal. The rest seem to be in it just for name recognition.

'A woman and a Latino'? The left really is about identity politics. :rolleyes-41:
