Jesus was a capitalist – not a socialist

Thank you, so they were socialist.

No, Jesus and his apostles were not socialists.

What on Earth make these crazy libs think Jesus was a socialist?
Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common. 33 With great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. 34 There was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold. 35 They laid it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.
Bible Gateway passage: Acts 4:32-35 - New Revised Standard Version

that was a specific situation, and doesn't require all Christians to give everything they own away; as it says, there was not a needy person among them. They were giving the proceeds to the Apostles, not a poor relief fund; they were helping finance the ministries of the apostles and the church in preparation for the coming purges and persecutions , which is why Acts 4:32-37 are referred to as 'The Provision", the previous set of verses were known as 'The Prayer", the next sections deal with the 'Purging Within" and and so on.

Also, 4:36 and :37:" Now Joseph, a Levite of Cyprian birth, who was also called 'Barnabas by the apostles (which translated means Son of Encouragement), :)37) and who owned a tract of land, sold it and brought the money and laid it at the apostles' feet."

So, those verses don't mean what you want them to mean.

For the Peanut Gallery, the last two also seems to present a dispute among scholars, since the Levites were not given any land in Israel, and some think they weren't allowed to own any land on their own there, so the land Barnabas sold must have been in Cyprus. I personally don't know if they were allowed to buy their own property in Israel or not, nor do I care a lot about that, just a mention. In any case, it's clear that this donating took place over time and not at some spontaneous gathering, since it would be pretty hard to sell in land in just a few minutes, much less land overseas, in a street meeting. this is an allegorical story, so face value means nothing.

These verses are related to many others; I'm not going to type them all out, so get yourself a decent study bible and concordance if you want to run around citing verses without looking like an ignorant troll; it's one of the most printed books in world history, after all, a major influence on western history, so why not just read it, if only in outline form, and be a real scholar for once.
43 Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles. 44 All who believed were together and had all things in common; 45 they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need.

By the way , the Separation of Church and state still remains in some states. If you republicans had a choice you would lock up gays and take females reproductive rights away.

Israel has state paid healthcare and they pay for abortions, and anyone can get one. Tel Aviv is also the gay place to be on the globe, yet Republican and Evangelicals are very pro Israel, why is that? One would think you'd love Iran the

Is that what you believe? You spout Separation of Church and State like it is doctrine. It is not. The founders put God in the documents they made. They made a Republic. The Republic today hangs by a thread as Democracy is near total control. And with Democracy starts tyranny. and the tyranny has expanded immensely over the decades and years. By the time you are done it will be totally authoritarian. There will be very little Church and a lotta lotta State. And then the leaders then will deal with the issues you brought up and many more and not in a good way.

No, the party chieftains telling you what to do is the essence of communism. Its about living in squalor, eating garbage, following orders, as this asylum seeker from Communist Cuba explains.

Marx, BTW, tried to make his idea of Marxism to be hunky-dory, to sell it to the people. It was bullshit.

The Separation clause is about keeping the Federal got. from interfering with religion, not the other way around , for one, and for two states can have a state favored sect if they so chose to, which in fact many did for decades after the ratification of the Constitution. You don't know what you're talking about as usual.

It works both ways. Yet they make laws about the Muslims and the Mormons. Go figure!

The USA has unbridled capitalism which is detrimental to society.

where did you get the idea that capitalism was "unbridled" in America?

Its less bridled here than it is in most places. But capitalism is highly regulated with legions of bureaucrats in Washington, Harrisburg, Columbus, and the other 48 state capitals specifying all kinds of anti-trump , environmental, labor laws, public accommodations, age limits for employees and customers, etc.

George Washington was a fan of state tax subsidized sects, as was Richard Henry Lee, Patrick Henry, and many others.

Religion and the State Governments - Religion and the Founding of the American Republic | Exhibitions (Library of Congress)

"Religious freedom under the newly adopted First Amendment meant that the Federal government would not force people to either support or adhere to the doctrines of a national state-supported church. Madison had observed that state-supported churches could create "a dangerous abuse of power."10 In his opinion "religion, or the duty which we owe to the creator, and the manner of discharging it, can be directed only by reason and conviction, not by force or violence."11 The first Ten Amendments to the Federal Constitution became the national Bill of Rights, and were designed to place limits upon the powers of the Federal government regarding the particular issues each amendment addressed. Whether or not individual states retained or enacted state churches was a matter that was to be left completely up to them. Such issues were reserved for individual states to decide themselves.

The true meaning of the First Amendment cannot be understood apart from its historical context. Since the Federal Constitution's amendments applied to the Federal government the states were sovereign to decide religious matters as they applied to their own populations. The meant that the Federal prohibition against an establishment of religion extended to Congress, since this is the Federal legislative body that would have the power to create a national state-supported church. Most of the state-sponsored churches that existed within individual states were not disestablished until well into the nineteenth century. States were responsible to handle such matters on their own initiative because the Federal Constitution did not have any authority to disestablish churches within individual states.

It may further be pointed out, as one scholar has done, that the First Amendment prohibited Congress from making "law respecting anestablishment of religion." The term establishment meant "recognition by government of a single denomination as the official church. The Amendment does not prohibit the establishment of religion (religion in general) but an establishment of religion (a Christian denomination in particular, what our founders called a 'sect')."12 This fact is unknown to most Americans today."

The Amendment originally intended to ensure religious liberty is now often used as a tool of censorship by which those offended by public displays of religion or morality. The Founding Fathers never sought to free America, or even the Federal government from the moral constraints that are inevitably linked to the Christian faith. Most of them believed that Christianity is actually the foundation for the morality a free society needs to govern itself. Madison wrote:

"We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.13"

The Constitution presupposes certain principles derived from Christianity. This is either unknown or rarely considered in modern times. The First Amendment's prohibition upon Congress from establishing a national state-church, as in Great Britain, should never be used to restrict religious activities — especially Christian ones — in any of our 50 states."

RE the bolded, Massachusetts was the last state to do so, in 1833 or so. These disestablishments by the individual states came about via demographical changes over the years, not from the 1st Amendment.

And there ya go, taking the Christ outta Christianity again.

I know this has already been posted, maybe you missed it?

Everyone gets it.
Christians are not welcomed in the Democratic Party.
But, thanks for another reminder.

Lol, evangelicals are no longer christians. Didn't you hear?

It is funny when Progs talk of God and such. When their policies and agendas have taken our nation far away from God as possible.

One would think you'd love Iran the
most.

It is doctrine. Freedom of and from religion is one of the cornerstones of our nation. You have heard of the 1st amendment, right?

that was a specific situation, and doesn't require all Christians to give everything they own away; as it says, there was not a needy person among them.

Bible Gateway passage: Acts 2 - New Revised Standard Version

Going to try again, are you? Yes, we've seen enough to know you can cut and paste. If you could read that ability would be of some importance.
It seems pretty straightforward to me. The early Christians partook in communal living.

It seems you are just playing ' I Touched You Last!!!' to me, and aren't actually reading the book, or you would be embarrassed at the distortion.
What distortion? I am quoting directly from the book. You're the one trying to spin.

Your link doesn't support your rubbish either. You just can't read, and think it does.
