I'm not even sure there is a right answer to this question of separation. There are probably more than a dozen reasons why the separation is mutually beneficial to both sides. But I suppose that "security" would be one of the main reasons. The Middle East is nothing like my home town where, for the most part, there is no open conflict between the various religious and ethnic clans. Here, you don't actually have to be on-guard and completely aware of your surroundings for any signs of violence. But in the Middle East nd Persian Gulf, you cannot let your guard down for a moment without risk. And the greater the proximity to one of the ethnic clans, or overly sensitive religions, the greater the probability of an adverse event. And there are so many squabbling factions, that you cannot tell the players without a score card. Areas and regions of the world known for this overly sensitive and self righteous religion, are some of the most dangerous in the world.; kindling agoraphobic symptoms and conscious avoidance.
