When I graduated college, I HAD to take a 'slave wage' position. It led to experience, which lead to better positions!
I didn't leave college with my diploma expecting to be a 'manager', etc, making $100k or more a year. I knew, even though I was told otherwise, that I had to 'pay my dues' before I could EARN a decent wage.

My student loan didn't kick in until I HAD a job!

I am wondering if some of these folks will gather some logic.

Congrats on graduation! More so on being practical. I've 3 kids that also 'got it.' They paid their way through college, all graduated, the most with $18k in debt. The other two? $9k and $3k. Did it through work, scholarships, and grants. Yep, all 3 applied and were accepted for grants. All published. All now working, above $40k, but less $55k. The one closing in on $60k has working for 2 years.

You mean like Pell Grants? Republicans are trying to get rid of those. But I guess that's the fault of the folks who need them.

The GOP is not trying to eliminate the grants. Only to control the expenditure. The idea is to limit the max grant to $5,500 and offer it ONLY to low income families.
I see nothing wrong with that.
I had a friend who went to Ohio State and had most of his tuition paid with pell grants. His father's salary was over $100,000 per year.
The kid got the grant by simply using an address that indicated he was living on his own. Nice move. That however is called "gaming the system". His parents paid for school.

IN the marketplace, there is no such thing as redistribution of wealth from the wealthy to college students or anyone else for that matter.
The idea of wealth redistribution is a myth concept invented by the class envy crowd who are motivated by their greed of assets which they have not earned. In short, "because you are rich and I am not, you owe me."
A fiscal conservative is one who earns what he works for, tries to keep as much of his earnings as possible from being wasted, saves what he can, lives within his means, does not accept the concept of widespread entitlement for able bodies persons who can work but refuse and demands smaller and non-intrusive government.
If that upsets or offends you, then you'll just have to be upset and offended.
