I may be wrong, but it seems to me that many documented instances of ritualistic cannibalism were performed because of religion, not atheism.

True, China has been around since ancient times, but China today is not "the same" as ancient Chinese dynasties.

That kind of makes me wonder about the history of "America"; most of what passes for it online is exaggerated or overly Romanticized or simplistic nonsense, but obviously there have been changes since its inception, and at some point a nation known as "America" may still exist in name, but radically different enough that it is a new "system" altogether.

You are splitting hairs. The "French Nation" has its current form of government without which it is not the "French Nation." Then there was Czechoslovakia, which split into Czech Republic and Slovakia. North and South Vietnam became one. And so forth.

The non-existence of God doesn't mean that morality doesn't exist. Moral codes do exist, in every human society (although those moral codes are not all the same). If God doesn't exist, then morality could not have been created by God. Therefore, morality must have been created by humans. And there are good, logical, empathic reasons for having a moral code that does not depend on any supernatural being. The Golden Rule is the classic one: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

You are kind of making my point. There was no desire for there to be a "Czechoslovakia". The only purpose of creating that nation with those borders that also contained Germans and Hungarians who didn't want to be there, either, was to create a buffer state around post- WWI Germany. It fell apart in the 1930's and again in the 1990's.

North and South Vietnam were artificial creations of the Cold War, but there was only one Vietnamese nation/people/culture.
