How is Jesus the Messiah?

Here's where I have gotten to on trying to identify where the Bible mentions the Jewish Messiah.

The Messiah would be born in Bethlehem.
The Messiah would be born of a virgin.
The Messiah would come from the line of Abraham.
The Messiah would be a descendant of Isaac.
The Messiah would be a descendant of Jacob.
The Messiah would come from the tribe of Judah.
The Messiah would be heir to King David's throne.
The Messiah's throne will be anointed and eternal.
The Messiah would be called Immanuel.
A messenger would prepare the way for Messiah.
The Messiah would be rejected by his own people.
The Messiah would be a prophet.
The Messiah would be preceded by Elijah.
The Messiah would be called a Nazarene.
The Messiah would be a great light and illuminate.
The Messiah would speak in parables.
The Messiah would be sent to heal the brokenhearted.
The Messiah would be a priest after the order of Melchizedek.
The Messiah would be called King.
The Messiah would be praised by little children.
The Messiah would be betrayed.
The Messiah would be falsely accused.
The Messiah would be silent before his accusers.
The Messiah would be spat upon and struck.
The Messiah would be hated without cause.
The Messiah would be crucified with criminals.
The Messiah would be given vinegar to drink.
The Messiah would be mocked and ridiculed.
The Messiah's hands and feet would be pierced.

I have given up on Indepeendent offering his list.
Now go read the full chapter of each of thise talking points and get back to me when you realized you’ve been fooled.
Or you could tell me all about the prophecy for the Jewish Messiah whose reign would be forever, right?

You’re missing the point.
The concept of “messiah” that you’ve had thrust down your throat is Greek/Roman nonsense.
Your complete lack of understanding is typical of a Christian who has never studied anything from beginning to end.
Psalms is all about David who lived a life of misery.
Isaiah, Jeremiah, et al are about the nation of Israel.
There is not necessarily one person who will usher in any particular era.
If you studied your Jewish Scripture, every “savior”, from Abraham through the early Prophets and any descendant of David down the road will be someone out of left field because a man of God is never one who goes out of his way to be accepted like your Jesus did.
You’re so wrong because you never learned anything but your cherry picked verses.

The Messiah's bones would not be broken.

Exodus 12:46
46 In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth aught of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof.

Exodus 12 / Hebrew - English Bible / Mechon-Mamre

Psalm 34:20
21 He keepeth all his bones; not one of them is broken.

Psalms 34 / Hebrew - English Bible / Mechon-Mamre
WTF does Exodus have to do with Jesus?
Read the chapter, not just the verse.

All of Psalms is about David.
Read the first verse of just about every Pslam and you’ll see.

If you don’t start reading chapters I’m going to put your ignorant ass on Ignore.

Who said I am discussing Jesus?

I am only on step 1 of the process. Identify the passages about the Jewish Messiah in the OT.

this whole thread is a bullshit set up for people like ding and indeependent to make asses out of themselves while TN jerks off.
If you ever get the opportunity to meet the lil' pagan in person just make sure you have some sterile wipes close at hand before shaking his hand.
Is masturbation murder in your eyes?
:iyfyus.jpg:[/QUOTE.
TMI, its a personal issue you can keep to urself

I wonder how indeependant and ding feel now knowing that TN was talking advantage of their sincerity to set them up into an emotionally charged conflict so that he can get his rocks off.
I knew that all along. I even pointed it out to Indepeendent.

That just makes it more funny.

Why don't you try a new approach and concede a point when one is made? Its not like the truth is unknown. Jesus did not build a temple, all animals did not become herbivores, people have not stopped dying, Jesus was not elected king, and he did not lead an armed revolt against the romans with a magic sword..

See how easy that was?

Why would it matter to you since no one will ever fulfill those prophecies literally because they are as irrational as Christian expectations for Jesus to float down from the sky and toss all unbelievers into the fires of hell...

No one will ever fulfill those expectations literally either.

If you can't admit a truth, you will not stop acting like a jerk. The same goes for Indeependent who can't admit that his messianic expectations are as irrational as your beliefs about Jesus and consequently he can't stop acting like a jerk..

Is that how you want to live out the rest of your days? Acting like a jerk and being obstinate in the face of truth while TN gets his jollies watching you two schmucks have a pillow fight?

And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.

Do you recall who divides them self to overcome the enemy?

That just makes it more funny.
How so? I knew what he was doing. Maybe you didn't understand what I was doing.

Why don't you try a new approach and concede a point when one is made?

Because I wasn't making any points. I was trying to identify verses that may have been related to the Jewish concept of the Messiah whose kingdom would live forever.

At any time Indepeendent could have said, look, these are the prophecies that we Jews look to when discussing the coming of the Jewish king whose kingdom will last forever.

You are free to offer your opinion on this as well. I'd like to hear it.

Its not like the truth is unknown.

Growth filled communities explore all sides of an issue to arrive at objective truth. Honest men can have honest differences of opinion without having to act like jerks.

The truth is what the truth is, you might know it, you might not. It's not a foregone conclusion. But the only way any of us will ever discover it is if we are objective in our evaluation and systematic in our process.

I am not at the stage of arguing who the Jewish Messiah is. I am at the stage of identifying all scripture that must be identified. Only then can the information be evaluated in its entirety.

Jesus did not build a temple, all animals did not become herbivores, people have not stopped dying, Jesus was not elected king, and he did not lead an armed revolt against the romans with a magic sword..

Again, I am not at that point in the evaluation. Why is this such a hard concept to understand?

See how easy that was?

It is easy when one is systematic and thorough. You are skipping steps. At this point my answer would be different than yours. But first I have to know what the Jews expected from the Jewish Messiah whose kingdom would have no end before I can say who might be that person.

Do you know anything about the Jewish belief of the JEWISH Messiah whose kingdom will last forever?

Indepeendent has been purposely avoiding this question. He isn't being honest. He is intentionally withholding his beliefs. Beliefs not worth stating are beliefs not worth having.

Why would it matter to you since no one will ever fulfill those prophecies literally because they are as irrational as Christian expectations for Jesus to float down from the sky and toss all unbelievers into the fires of hell...

I understand the use of allegory and metaphors, but I don't pretend to know the mind of God and consider him bound by our "rationality."

No one will ever fulfill those expectations literally either.

I don't know that.

If you can't admit a truth, you will not stop acting like a jerk. The same goes for Indeependent who can't admit that his messianic expectations are as irrational as your beliefs about Jesus and consequently he can't stop acting like a jerk..

I love truth. Have you ever considered the possibility that you have been the one acting like a jerk?

Indepeendent won't even discuss his beliefs about the prophecy of his people. It's not that he can't. He won't.

Is that how you want to live out the rest of your days? Acting like a jerk and being obstinate in the face of truth while TN gets his jollies watching you two schmucks have a pillow fight?

This is pretty ironic coming from you, brother.

still waiting on you to go over the prophecy with me.
Which prophecy did he not meet?
Go back a few pages. You must have missed it
Ok, then. If your position is that he did not meet anyone of the prophecies...

He rebuilt the temple in 3 days and he came from the line of David.

he never rebuilt the temple

and he wasn't of the line of david
Why do you say that? Don't you even know that the Jews trace their lineage through the mother? Such ignorance is inexcusable.

We trace Jewishness through the mother. We trace lineage through the father. To this day.

LOL....No kidding. You weren't making any points. I asked why you don't concede a point when one is made..

You quote verses out of context and then accuse Indeependant of being evasive or dishonest when he points out that the subject, given the context of the chapter, proves that the prophecy is not about Jesus.

Example "a virgin is with child" which is a prophecy about the future king Hezekiah, not Jesus.. The verse doesn't validate the virgin birth story in the gospels, it invalidates your argument.

You love honesty?

Yeah, right...

I am going to put aside everything you just wrote until after you have told me which passages you believe discuss the Jewish prophecy of the Jewish King whose kingdom will last forever.

I don't believe you will do it.

Failure to do it means I win.

Well, if there was anyone out there who wasn't sure if you were just being an obnoxious jerk, now they know..

Thanks for clearing that up.
