How does one fix this problem???

Yes you are anti-youth,
===========
the rising generation feeling entitled to things and being unwilling to work for them?
===========

You seem to be giving up on an entire generation because of the laziness and naivete common to every generation of young people that has ever lived including yours and mine, I like to think we turned out OK in spite of once being young and foolish, they too will be alright.

So we are talking about ways to help the rising generation overcome this problem they face, so clearly we are giving up on them and are obviously anti-youth?

Did you even attempt to think that one through?

So when you going to start talking about helping them instead of ways to take it all with you when you die? If you have no faith in them how are you going to help them make a world anyone would want?

What the heck are you snorting?

In answer to the question: If you feel that the attitude of today's youth is a problem that we should worry about then nothing will be changed by writing them off or attempting to stand in their way as they take ownership of their world. They look at us who had undreamed of opportunity handing them a world where they will be worse off then we were, They have not been here long enough to screw-up the world but they see us, the boomers, getting SS but making plans to take it away, denying climate change, dismantling the safety nets, allowing the rich to cement their rule for another generation, refusing to conserve resources, polluting the world and handing them nothing but a debt that we refuse to help pay. Conservatives have the nerve to call them screwed up? We have failed in giving our dependents a decent world to live in, it is not possible to fail worse then that.

Deja vu.......... Saw this same BS argument during the Carter era recession, funny how it disappeared when things got better.

Selling the youth of America short seems to be the national conservative pastime these days. Don't think for a minute that they are too preoccupied with X box to notice how anti youth the right has become. If they alienate the youth how are the republicans going to replace their increasingly elderly numbers?

It’s less ‘anti-youth’ and more typical, tedious rightist reactionaryism: everything’s terrible today and the past was ‘better’; in reality of course that’s never the case.

"Generation Gimme." I like that. It really does sum up the millions of Democrat-created Entitlement addicts. They taught them to believe they're entitled to someone elses income. Now they actually do believe that. They even think they deserve it. It's an awful ignorant mentality. But i don't know how to fix it. There's millions & millions of these people out there with that mentality. I guess the Democrats needed these permanent Democratic voters. What can i say? It's always 'Party before Country' for them.

It's not anti youth or everything was better in the past. It is a obvious sentiment that is rising in this nation today and it is not cornered by just the youth either. If you cannot see it then you are simply stuffing your head in the sand. All people seem to be worried about is today is what they are entitled to without a single thought of where it will come from or how it will be administered. Healthcare should be free, who cares about those that have to actually administer it. Living wages should be guaranteed, no mention about the quality of work involved. Jobs should be provided by the government, who cares if those jobs are actually producing anything. That is the new sentiment that I keep hearing on a daily basis. It is asinine and will drag us to the abyss. We need to get back to the mentality that if you want something you are going to have to work for it. Social safety nets are not there to provide it for you. They are there for those that lost what they worked for or those that simply cannot provide for themselves. It seems that those safety nets are not safety nets anymore.

How about the parents of the children who are percieved to be the "Gimme generation" get flogged publically for raising such children. I suppose no one wants to hear about the parents not doing their jobs. Why does everyone want to give the parents a pass on their obvious failure to parent. The gimme generation didn't just appear out of nowhere. Their parents raised them that way and their grandparents sat on their collective asses and watched it all happen.

Lets put the blame where it truly belongs... on the boomer generation. The boomers run the government and they raised the gimme generation.

Before bitching about the gimme generation, look at what you have raised. Think about the village who helped raise the children in question.

Gimme generation? They learned it by watching us.

Full blown hammocks.

How can you put it solely on the democrats? when the republican business owners are whining about taxes being too high, and regulation being too restrictive. Both are whining and both want everything given to them. Business subsidies are just like welfare, why do businesses deserve handouts when they whine for them but no one else can do the same?

You opinion is valid only if it is applied fairly and equally to all.

The youth has learned that tuition can be Free (Pell Grants) before they even qualify academically. Mom and Dad have given them everything they didn't have and just what did we expect? Their future will be indebtedness and it looks like the normal flow of events will teach them a well deserved lesson.

Shame on this governent and parents.

Let'shink twice about these continued unemployment benefits being extended. For those who really deserve entitlements, they must be aged or infirmed.

**For those welfare moms who want those pedicures and manicures, let her take her not so well deserved entitlements and train to be a manicurist.

I agree. but why just the aged and infirmed? suppose the aged went their entire lives sponging off everyone else. Suppose the infirmed got that way by being stupid. Who will determine "who truly deserves the entitlement"?

I could go along with no help for anyone for any reason. When they reach the age of sixty five, they get to retire and not want for anything. The trick will be getting to the age of sixty five on their own.

Who gave the parents a pass?? It is on them. One of the biggest mistakes we have made in this generation is treating the next like it was glass. People learn the hard way, they need to fall in order to learn how to get up. Today we are so worried about our children getting a scratch because it will hurt them. Good. That is what pain is for. It is a learning experience.

Much of the problems center on schools and the way parents handle them today also. Instead of learning institutions, they have slowly taken parents place as we cede more and more responsibility to them. It is as though parents don't actually want to truly be parents. It might involve doing the tough things as well as the rest.

Schools have fast become babysitting emporiums for detached parents and they get a dose of indoctrination to boot. :eusa_whistle:

"who truly deserves the entitlement"

:lmao: You can get SSI for waking up and speaking with a foreign accent.

What chance do we have?

You are right about the parents, but how did those parents get that way? Yep, it was their parents.

Some will, some won't, every generation has their share of useless tits.

Folks would be well served to stop trying to find someone to blame, and square themselves away so they don't become the ones reliant of uncle sam to wipe their ass.

Good way of putting it. Some want to stand on their own two feet and be independant, and some want to be indentured to the government and not know what true freedom is. Then there are those who want to be independant, but cannot know true freedom as the government and the greedy strive to indenture them.

Very true. They would be. The only way we can become free again is by choosing to live free.

Adam Carolla sums up 'Generation Gimme' perfectly. Funny and enlightening...
