The only specific right I've seen in the constitution or amendments is where it says our right to bear arms shall not be infringed.
See amendment 1 for starters.

Many people say that the government can't grant you rights, that the government only exists to protect the rights you already have - given by your Creator as the D of I says.
With this thread you see the clear flaw in that argument (one I've pointed out many a time)
Who decides what are and aren't your natural rights?
Ask the God and Natural Rights morons to explain - prohibition?
1. Prohibition was an overreach by the government and was repealed. They did not grant us the right to drink. They took their unlawful restriction on our rights away.
It wasn't legislation it was a constitutional amendment ratified by the states.
No, i have no right to health care but i do have a right to earn my health care...WhyWhat kind of right is it?
It should be a right in the same manner education is a right.
Because the health of the nation's people is at least as important as their education.
It is the right of every American child to receive a basic K-12 education regardless of the ability to pay for it.
That is how healthcare should be, but for all Americans of all ages.
I fully agree. Neither is a right. It should be a right in the same manner education is a right.
Education is guaranteed as a right in every state.
Ron Reagan passed a law saying sick have to be treated even if they don't have insurance.
So yeah, that's kind of a right .
The right to secure, purchase, and posses healthcare coverage is a right as with the purchasing of land, goods and services, ...as defined under the rights guaranteeing the freedom of commerce, however, there is no right stipulating the government should pay the expense for this privilege. It is a privilege not to be viewed as a financial obligation of the Federal or State government.
Until there is tort reform, freedom to purchase healthcare coverage over state lines, defined risk pool participation options available, the free open market is unable to engage in competition which is the primary motivator in decreasing expense.
As a compassionate society legislators should be focusing on the issues that escalate healthcare expense and nothing else before they pass any laws concerning healthcare. The blatant protection of legal profession at the expense of people is disgusting. Tort reform is the largest obstacle to affordable healthcare.
Nothing is free!
You know why they can't afford health care? You make it impossible for someone to get health care when they can't afford it
Because of the government's constant intrusion into the health care marketplace.
And what do you dumb fucks insist on to fix it? MORE government interference!
Jesus H. Christ.

Correct. Still wasn't a right granted by the government.

So you agree that abortion and same sex marriage are inalienable rights that, eventually, the government recognized and thus began to secure...
eh?

No idiot. that was already a right, the British tried to take it away. That's why it's there.

Who decided that? Who decided that a fetus cannot be aborted?
Who decided that same sex marriage cannot be a right equivalent to the right of man/woman couples to marry?
Who decided that freedom of the press is a right?
