Fired for Being on the Pill

Speaking of being mentally ill...
A proposed new law in Arizona would give employers the power to request that women being prescribed birth control pills provide proof that they're using it for non-sexual reasons. And because Arizona's an at-will employment state, that means that bosses critical of their female employees' sex lives could fire them as a result.

I know it will hurt to actually THINK about this idiotic statement.

So you go to work for an employer you know does not cover the Pill in your fringe benefits.

Say...the Catholic Church.

Now how utterly stupid would you have to be to then submit an expense account request to be reimbursed for the Pill?

Yeah. You should be fired. For being a fricking idiot.

I would say this imaginary scenario in that statement will never happen because no one would ever be that dumb.

But then I read this topic...

Perhaps you're not understanding what is actually happening.

Let me explain. IT'S NOT THE EMPLOYER WHO IS PAYING FOR IT.

IT IS NOT THE GOVERNMENT THAT IS PAYING FOR IT.

THERE IS NO EXPENSE ACCOUNT REQUEST.

THIS IS INSURANCE COVERAGE.

Understand now? Or are you still confused?

Like I said... this bill is mentally ill. It is nothing but the continuation of the religious right's efforts to turn this country into a theocracy.

Nutbars.

And I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

And as I have carefully explained earlier, if your employer is not paying for contraception coverage, there is no contraception coverage. Amazing, huh?

So you would have to be an idiot to request your employer's insurance to pay for your Pill in that case, eh?

Not only that, it is the OP claiming you would be fired for trying to get the Pill paid for. Not me.

You are exposing your ignorance.

Read. The. Law.

When did my ex-home state become the most stupid and backward in the Union?

Are the pubs there working for theDems?

you haven't read a single post in this thread, or looked at the text of the bill.

What part of this don't you understand?

State lawmakers are considering a bill that would let employers deny women contraception coverage and ask them why they are using it.

Arizona already has a law on the books allowing religious employers to deny the coverage for moral reasons.

This bill expands that right to all businesses.

Women could potentially get the pill for other uses, but they would have to explain why they use the contraception to their employers.

AZ lawmakers advance unparalleled contraception bill - CBS 5 - KPHO

that would be... the part of the actual text of the bill that doesn't even remotely say that. There are multiple links to the actual text of the voted upon bill. Perhaps you'd like to go read it, before you continue to make yourself look like a complete fool and blind partisan hack that can't research their own information.
I did read it. If a woman wants her insurance to cover her birth control pills, she must get her employer's approval. Even though the insurance policy already covers birth control.

No offense, but you really should consider changing your screen name.

Bill Text: AZ House Bill 2625 - Fiftieth Legislature - Second Regular Session (2012) | eLobbyist

So an employer can govern the sex life of an employee now by not letting an insurance carrier pay for prescription medication.

I notice they didn't exclude Viagra coverage.

Your lack of comprehension is positively amazing.

The law requires any employer who pays for prescription coverage to provide contraception coverage as well.

Read that last sentence as many times as it takes to comprehend it.

The employer MUST cover contraception. Got it?

Perhaps you will notice there is nothing that says the employer MUST pay for Viagra. So nice little making-shit-up lie you tried to slip in there.

The HUGE blind spot you keep exposing about yourself is the fact that there are people for whom the pill is against their religion.

Please read that last sentence as many times as it takes for you to appreciate someone else has "values". You know, those things that liberals claim to be TOLERANT of?

This law, after FORCING employer TO PROVIDE CONTRACEPTION COVERAGE, allows those who are morally opposed to the Pill to opt out.

That means JUST ABOUT EVERYONE will have to provide contraception coverage.

But that is not good enough for you. You want to FORCE someone to VIOLATE THEIR FAITH.

Asshole.

So I ask again. What kind of special retard goes to work for someone they know is religiously opposed to the pill and demands the employer violate his or her faith and give it to them? Huh?

What special kind of asshole does a thing like that?

A Liberal kind, that's what.

poor little dumbass liberal women's can't figure out birth control,, they needs someone to take care of them.. again... god.. get a grip.

This is where the false dichotomy presents itself. Why do we accept the premise that our private health insurance should be the business of our employers in the first place?

Labor unions demanded employer-provided health insurance. And ObamaCare mandates employers provide health insurance. So it is all on the Left why we have this fricking mess.

You should be buying your own health insurance. Just like you buy your own auto, home, and life insurance. Then it can be tailored exactly the way you want it.

Employer-provided health insurance bends the cost curve up.

I did read it. If a woman wants her insurance to cover her birth control pills, she must get her employer's approval. Even though the insurance policy already covers birth control.

Wrong. Try again.

You'd think the idiots in Arizona would attempt to make this appear not to be about birth control. If they were honest they would try to pass a law stating that any employer needs to approve any coverage of an item deemed preventative health care.

But no, they shoot themselves in the head by attacking women.

What ever happened to the Republican party?

This is the bill...

what's confusing about this unless English isn't your first language.

D. C. Subsection B of this section shall not exclude coverage for prescription contraceptive methods ordered by a health care provider with prescriptive authority for medical indications other than to prevent an unintended pregnancy for contraceptive, abortifacient, abortion or sterilization purposes. An accountable health plan, employer, sponsor, issuer or other entity offering the plan may state religious beliefs in its affidavit that require the enrollee to first pay for the prescription and then submit a claim to the accountable health plan along with evidence that the prescription is for a noncontraceptive purpose not in whole or in part for a purpose covered by the objection. An accountable health plan may charge an administrative fee for handling claims under this subsection.

That is not in the bill.

You'd think the idiots in Arizona would attempt to make this appear not to be about birth control.

Here is what is in the law:

If the contract provides coverage for prescription drugs, the contract shall provide coverage for any prescribed drug or device that is approved by the United States food and drug administration for use as a contraceptive.

If the contract provides coverage for outpatient health care services, the contract shall provide coverage for outpatient contraceptive services. For the purposes of this paragraph, "outpatient contraceptive services" means consultations, examinations, procedures and medical services provided on an outpatient basis and related to the use of approved United States food and drug administration prescription contraceptive methods to prevent unintended pregnancies.

The employer must provide contraception coverage. You don't have to write a note. You won't get fired.

So all your little lies are just that. Lies.

This is exactly the kind if shitstorm you stir up when you start forcing people to pay for other people's crap.

It isnt a war on women. Its a war on democracy.

Um, excuse me, but you will have to wait your turn. California, my native state, has far exceeded AZ in regards to being the most stupid and backwards in the union. You have a long way to go and as long as Jerry B., Nancy P., Barbara B. and Diane F. are in charge you simply don't have a prayer.

You are though putting up a decent show for second place.
