Our goal as humans is to eventually get out of here. And we are trying to find earth-like planets to travel to. Even though once we have the tech to get there, we won't necessarily need earth-like planets to survive. But whatever... We are searching for earth-like planets...
And once we have the tech, we will travel there. It is not a matter of impossibility, it is just a matter of "when".
