Reality Check:
Why not post a thread last week, (March 23-24) explaining the pagan roots of Purim and Esther? Should that story be dug up and broadcast in time to murmur against another people?

Or is it better not to do to others what one would not like done to them?

Yes, we can change and twist stories. Ishtar has her own story, and that story is not the story of Esther and it is not the story of Easter. Ishtar, Esther, Easter/Resurrection Day. All independent stories with Spring celebrations.

the point is, you are supposed to notice (if you get to the end of Rome's punchline) that at the very end of the book they tell you Jesus is claimed The Morning Star (Baal's son). Hence unveiling the mask to expose who's behind the facade. You haven't noticed the evangelists talking about increased bounty & harvests (to be less obvious about $$$) when talking about blessed finances if you donate to God which uses their pockets to store that harvest windfall? Same harvest scam seeds replaced by donated dollars, bounty they see handling your hard earned money.

Herod Antipas and Herod the Great weren't the same... Or have I mixed up Herod Agrippa?

I'll have to check Herod Antipas' birthdate to get my bearings.
his birthday can throw you off, his recognition -power wasn't until the first century when The Galilean figure was already dead by 6bc.
Antipas was a mere child when the Galilean saw his fate by the hands of Rome for his tax revolt.

I've always found folks who have a need to trash the faith of others to be interesting. Usually something significant missing in their lives.

Real religion always makes the closet pagans fearful and causes them to lash out. Christianity being of course the most advanced and best theology gives them special angst and makes them look bad.

For people of all/any faith, there are holy days/weeks that shine a light on what we believe, what we work on practicing every other day. It is a time of renewal and a special time of worship, reminding us of the glorious connections we have with God, of the awesomeness of God whom we have in our midst, in the midst of our lives. It is not too much to ask for people to be respectful.

I don't mind talking of all things pagan, or all things wrong with religion, but when holy days are upon us, why not let them wait until another time.

It doesn’t matter like the Jesus stories are based on different characters where their lives and stories were converged into one character the same can be said about the Herod characters as well… When the stories were written and compiled centuries later there was no one alive who could question the authenticity of them… All are converged characters and only come alive in the written words in the New Testament just like the stories in books like Lord of the Rings or any other literary novel.. It is fiction just like the cruciFICTION and any other tale tails found there…

Wasn't Herod Agrippa the father of Berenice the Mistress of Titus?

Note the reference to Antiochus IV Epiphanies and the age of Jesus.

Yehuda the Galilean.
The only christ figure in the time of Lysanias (35bc)and King Herod(4bc) as per accts of Jesus in their era.

I posted a link..

It's complicated.

"The Law forbids us to have a foreigner [as] king, but we are expecting the Anointed, the Meek one, of David's line. Yet we know that Herod is an Arab, uncircumcised.... What is this? Or did the prophets somehow lie? They wrote that we shall never lack a prince of Judah until there comes the One whom it is given back; in him the nations will hope. But is this [King Herod] the hope of nations? We detest his misdeeds; are the nations going to hope in him?" (After War 1.369)

For a minute there I thought you were talking about hot crossed Buns not Bunnies.. It is interesting that Hot cross buns have been synonymous with Easter celebrations since they appeared in 12th century England. Interestingly, hot cross buns pre-date Christianity, with their origins in paganism. Ancient Egyptians used small round breads topped with crosses to celebrate the gods. The cross divided the bread into four equal sections, representing the four phases of the moon and/or the four seasons, depending on the occasion. Later, Greeks and Romans offered similar sweetened rolls in tribute to Eos, the goddess of the morning, and to Eostre, the goddess of light, who lent her name to the Easter observances. The cross on top symbolized the horns of a sacrificial ox. The English word bun is a derivation of the Greek word for ceremonial cakes and breads, boun…The Bunnies well that is another story but just as interesting non the less…

Hereditary Wealth Is Based on a Mindless Superstition

Because people demand a visible representation of a Supreme Being. That's what makes them look at their leaders and plutocrats as godlike and angelic. With these special divine genes, the Masters are thought to have passed on their halos to their sons.

I don't know, this always worked for me as a representation. ;)

I was hoping you would have stuck to Biblical figures that I'm familiar with, like Jeremiah.

Usually, the appearance of the prophet was not a good thing since they came to give a sinful and wayward people a warning.

After several years of preaching, Jeremiah’s family turned against him and even plotted to kill him (Jeremiah 1:8, 11:21-23, 12:6). Over the years, he was whipped and put in the stocks (Jeremiah 20:1-3), attacked by a mob (Jeremiah 26:1-9), threatened by the king (Jeremiah 36:26), and ridiculed (Jeremiah 28). Some of Zedekiah’s princes had Jeremiah arrested, beaten, accused of treason, and thrown in jail (Jeremiah 37:1-15), from whence he was then thrown in a deep empty well (Jeremiah 38:1-6). He lived through the siege of Jerusalem along with the rest and was there as the people were taken away as captives.

Or Isaiah. Isaiah is believed to have suffered a martyr’s death for his faith. The Jewish historian Josephus records that King Manasseh had Isaiah sawn in half with a wooden saw. This gruesome execution is also mentioned in the Talmud, a collection of Jewish writings.

In fact, the Bible itself tells us a much of what went on.

The Father was always the Father and the Son was always the Son.
to think God decided to have a son or some such blasphemous nonsense has never been part of Christian theology
The Trinity is what God is, there was no changing, or morphing or deciding !!!!!!
C'mon use your damn mind

The Romans wanted a sedate populace and not one full of revolution in the air

The last thing the Sanhedrin wanted was a revolutionary like Jesus energizing the crowds and creating chaos.
Render Therefore Unto Caesar

Jesus was trying to pacify the Jews by preaching that their present problems with the Romans were trivial and that they must spend their energies on preparing for a future eternal afterlife instead. He was the original "opiate of the masses."

Marx used that term only in order to make the State be the new opiate. He, Lenin, and Stalin preached that the masses should put up with their tyranny because of the glorious future promised by their ideology. They were a trinity.
