Serious question: our nation is so divided right now that nothing positive is getting done. We, the citizens, are suffering like never before and our media has become the propaganda arm or one side or the other.

Can our nation survive this or is the only solution some sort of revolution or secession making us into two distinct countries?

I oppose sledge hammer solutions that block legitimate free speech. The problem isn't that people (individually, or collectively as corporations) are donating to political campaigns. The problem is that politicians are granting them favors via the law. THAT's what needs to stop.

It gave corporations and unions the right to contribute unlimited amounts of money to political campaigns - a right that individuals don't have. There are strict limits on how much money an individual is allowed to donate to a campaign. This unfettered ability for billionaires to donate to political campaigns lead to the rise of the Superpac's - like Trump's American First Superpac.

On the surface, since both unions and corporations have the right to donate as much as they like, it appears to be even handed, but unions don't have unlimited resources, and billionaires, like the Koch Brothers, Sheldon Adelman, and others, used the law to create super pacs through their privately held corporations.

The problem is the media bubbles... News Media has commercialised in the US so bad they are just confirmation bias...

You see the difference in the Ireland and UK News which doesn't do the pundits stuff to same level...

US news looks like tribal warfare in comparison...

You can't have work on the division with both sides receiving different information.

The problem you have is that as soon as anyone reads something they don't like, there is accusations of bias (which very much exists) rather that reading the article and look at the evidence backing the story...
