An undocumented worker was able to pay rent because he got $2,000 as part of a UBI-like program that will now be permanent for Coloradans who lose their jobs
Denver Mayor Micheal B. Jancock gives illegal aliens free taxpayer money to pay their bills.now the state of colorado is creating a program to give illegal aliens free money. So why would foreigners adhere to our immigration laws when they can just jump the border and receive government financial assistance to live here. this is just plain stupid.

Let us tell the whole story:

Leo Alvarez had a confluence of bad luck in 2020.

Due to the pandemic, the bakery where he works in Denver, Colorado, cut his hours. The hours he could work were painful ones, due to his arthritis. It's been a year since he started working regularly again, although he's still suffering from medical complications.

Because Alvarez is an undocumented immigrant, he wasn't eligible for much of the federal coronavirus aid that helpedmany Americans who were struggling, boosting the savingsof many households when circumstances were at their most dire. Alvarez asked that his real name be kept private, but his identity has been verified by Insider.

It left Alvarez and his family, which includes his wife and teenage daughter, in a precarious position two years ago. Friends told them about community programs that could give them free food, but it didn't cover everything. They were also falling behind on rent.

Then Alvarez found out about the Left Behind Workers Fund, for which he gives his "eternal gratitude."

The fund was a pandemic-era initiative launched by Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock, which in total provided about $1.73 million in emergency funds to families who lost income due to COVID-19.

They work, they pay taxes. They are not getting it for free because they just "jumped the fences, or walls".

they are illegally in the USA. they are not authorized to work and live in the USA. They have violated our immigration laws. They are not entitled to anything. let them work and pay taxes in their own countries. he can give his "eternal gratitude to his own country. if he wants to immigrate to the USA he can apply legally and go to the back of the line. there are many people from all over the world waiting to enter the USA legally. illegal aliens must be deported.

The main problem is that many American Citizens will only hire illegals. Try to stop that.

Thousands of illegals are deported on a daily basis. You are simply not informed about it.

The thing is, to leftist vermin, the only crime you're guilty of is the one you get caught doing.

Except for THEM. Then it's all legal because they want it to be.

If he was here legally he would have had funds immediately, see the difference? Legal vs. illegal, I have no issue whatsoever with legal citizens getting money, I have an issue with rewarding those that knowingly and without remorse breaking the law.

Also the owner of the bakery needs to be fined and/or jailed for knowingly breaking the law.

I'm glad a family was prevented from homelessness for just $2,000. Anger about this really goes to show the depths of cruelty many Americans sink to in their desire to inflict suffering and misery on people and families.

And we're happy to know it was your own personal $2,000 that saved them.

Tell us how long you had to work to earn that money.

Actually, we'd know you were lying. We know you spent that money on drama classes.

Money well wasted.

Nothing you have said here justifies taxpayers having to fund living expenses for people that broke the law by entering this country illegally. Your use of the word undocumented is just an attempt to sugar coat the situation to try and make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

The article used the word undocumented, not I. :)

OK, my mistake. They sugar coated, you quoted.
Ilegal = Undocumented

To you, maybe, illegal sounds more criminal.

Reagan was the first President to pardon all illegals in the 1980s. That is one reason they kept coming after that.

They are going to continue to come. The House should be dealing with immigration and the border, but I think they have other issues more important in mind at the moment.

No. Undocumented simply means having no documents. Illegal means breaking the law. To you maybe undocumented sounds more innocent to justify the crime.

Undocumented means they are not here legally. They do not have a Green Card. They are breaking the immigration law. But America citizens hire, for lower pay, those they wish to hire. That is how it works in most countries with illegal immigrants.

And they want us to do it again to encourage more to come for the next pardon.

Who had the house and Senate when that happened?
