I always laugh when people call him liberal

He is liberal with some of his policies. Healthcare, amnesty for illegals, some other things I can't think of right now.

Well yea but he is far from a liberal
He has bombed 7 countries
His healthcare he campaigned on(single payer) was "liberal" but not what we got.
He doesn't seem to believe in due process
He likes corporate welfare (export import bank) In fact, in 2008 he said while campaigning that place was (little more than a fund for corporate welfare)

Didn't hear that. But I heard him trying to excuse himself for early voted by claiming his father died and he just started his job. Reminded me of the Simpsons where homer kept saying "it's my first day" when he was screwing up at work and ended up stealing a nuclear sub.
