Dick Cheney Survives Fifth Heart Attack, not rare cardiologists say

And to think...I was trying to help you come up with an idea to make your life better...and actually looked into your industry to see what kind of a business plan I could write up for you......and now I see....you simply want the country to cater to your needs....

Absolutely not true. I ask for nothing from my country, need-wise. I just hate seeing my country that belongs to all of us sold to the highest bidder without any regard for its citizens (well, the other 99% anyway). We should really be called McMerica at this point. Barely anything is left that is for the people / owned by the people. And you idiots want to privatize what scant public resources that we have left. Oh, but I forgot, an enlightened socitety, community etc is a "socialist" idea. Why do you want to turn this country into Russia?

Voodoo economics huh...and you do not watch the left wing pundits.....

This term has been around for decades and was even in textbooks. This term did not come from a left-wing pundit. And as for the 1%, I read a study by Johns Hopkins. You may be able to find it if you google it.

Never are there reports of those children that starve to death....and like it or not...NEVEWR is there a story about some poor person not getting treated and dying.....

What about the lady here in Brooklyn that keeled over and died in the waiting room with people walking over her in the "poor" hospital? This shit happens all the time. And do you know how dangerous the homeless shelters are? The two homeless guys that sleep in my station say they will never go in one unless they have absolutely no place to go.

I apologize if I mis represented your intentions.

But once you allow government in to the private secotr, it is near impossible to get them out.

Look at what happened with SS. The government did not feel the American epopel are smart enough to save for their gutures, so they decided to make it law and control it for them.....and look at hwere we are with that.

You want that to happen to healthcare? How do you think Candians feel now that they hear that the Premier of Labrador is going to the US for heart surgery becuase he is concerned that he may die while waiting for surhery in Canada...and he does not want to be accused of jumoing ahead in line?

What if you started a company and achieved great success......and the government contated you and said "despite risking all you had, working 70 hour weeks, giving up any free time, suffering many headaches, we feel you make more than your fair share so we are going to control your profits....

Russia? Do you not see the irony in what you said? Government intervention will result in NOT becoming like russia? Huh?

That is the point...and you cant see it.

The ONE lady...I know who you are referring to....one lady out of 9 million.....and it was due to the CITY EMPLOYEES...not the clinic protocols...the city paid employees that were careless and incompetent....talk to Bloomberg about that...dont blame the more successful.

And yes, those shelters are dangerous...but at least they are there....and perhaps a few more officerts at each one would help...how many die on the streets...I saw two reports last winter....and neither was anything more than a guy refusing help....

But that ONE LADY of 9 million...and ONE INCIDENT over how many years........and THAT Is the best you can come up with as proving there is a problem? ANd you say it ahgppens all the time but the one incident you can come up with was proven tobe negligence of the receptionist and securtiy guard?

Please........get off it already.

Russia? Do you not see the irony in what you said? Government intervention will result in NOT becoming like russia? Huh?

Russia is in a free market free-for-all with a handfull of people (oligarchs) controlling all of the wealth and power. Basically a legitimate mafia. Guess what happens to the rest of the Russians. Effing miserable and more poverty than before the state fell. THAT is where we are headed.

And yes, there are many things that should stay in control of the people and out of private hands.

We are a land of thousands of successful small privately owned businesses.....where do you see the "handful of people"?

Very few industries have oligopolies...and none have monopolies.....

Your concern would be valid except the scenario needed to validate it does not exist in the US....so I suggest you relieve yorself of that concern.

It should be noted that is competition-driven healthcare that has motivated the great gains in the world-class quality of health care America can provide. That is why wealthy Canadians come to America when dealing with more serious medical issues - our quality of care is top-notch.

Remove the competition/profit motive, and that quality will diminish.

The debate over health care has long been misplaced. A government-run system would be ruinous to the very innovations that have made our health care the envy of the world.

Access is a legitimate concern - but the answers to that lie in increased competition, enhanced HSA programs - including vouchers, and real tort reform - none of which the liberal Democrats have been willing to consider because none of those options, while benefiting access for nearly all, does nothing to increase government control, and that is what their primary motivation has always been.

Yes, it you were the Vice President, you get great care.

Way to drive your point home, Sinatra.

Noticing Michelle's well-toned arms, is the marriage of Michelle and Barrack Obama valid even though she had a sex change operation?

Liberals want Americans to die.

Yeah and when that 500K bill comes, you lose your house! Awesome!

Exactly

LMAO...please....PLEASE show me when and where that has ever happened.

Jeez........people on here are true idiots....you make things up based on the tidbits people like Reid and Pelosi and Obama toss out there.......

They know there are people like you that will embellish it and make it "true"....they count on you being idiots......

And they are right.

ok

Half of foreclosures attributable to health care costs
Get Sick, Get Out: The Medical Causes of Home Mortgage Foreclosures
SSRN-Get Sick, Get Out: The Medical Causes of Home Mortgage Foreclosures by Christopher Robertson, Richard Egelhof, Michael Hoke

Did Reid and Pelosi have anything to do with this study? You did mention one thing that is true, people in here true idiots. The right leaning ones are.

Dispute this.

I wonder if Republicans who have declared bankruptcy from Medical Bills are saying, "Well, at least I had a hand in bringing good profits to Insurance Companies. I did my part."

Show me the corpses of the poor littering the streets of our urban ghettos. Show me photos of malnourished, weakly home-boyz living in squalor. You can't. Our so-called "poor" live like kings compared to the average person in the world and it doesn't take genius to figure out how they are doing it and how much they are benefiting from this transfer of wealth already going on.

I'm sick of hearing this whining about the plight of America's poor.
Spoken like a Cheney supporter!

Is it true the next cardiac problem Cheney has the medical attendants will stand by with their choice of defibrillating paddles or a wooden stake and a mallet?

He made a good point.
I am in Manhattan. I see the homeless...I see the poor...About once or twice a year there is a news report of a man found dead due to freezing to death....a city of 9 million and two die of the cold...and they are ALWAYS spoken as the one who refused to go to the shelter when the police insisted they do...

Never are there reports of those children that starve to death....and like it or not...NEVEWR is there a story about some poor person not getting treated and dying.....

And this is NY...all you need is one preson CLAIMING that they were denied healthcare, and Sharpton would be on the front page of every paper..

But he is not...it does not happen. It is BS and this congress and this administration makes shit up to convince people like you that AMericans are selfish and need government to control things...

And people like you run with it...and the best proof you have is a congressperson saying.....

"I got a letter from Jim... a man from my great state of Illinois.....who had a pore-existing condition...and now is forced to live on the streets..."

And Jim has no last name...no one knows who he is...yet everyone seems to say "I have an aunt who that happened to.....but never say who the aunt was....

Yet....where are the lawsuits? WHere are the advocates? WHere is SHarpton with the man it happened to?

Nowhere.......it does not happen.
Anyone may receive treatment in an emergency room. Is that how you would like it to stay?

Remember that emergency room care is the most expensive and least effective form of treatment for those with chronic conditions.

I got mine! typical Conservative!

You would do well to understand the very thread title - doctors state it is not uncommon these days for multiple heart attack survivors - regardless of status.

The United States offers the very best quality health care in the world, thus the wealthy of the world come here for treatment.

This quality is a direct result of the competition-based system we have in place. Government run health care would greatly reduce the inherent motivation that creates the innovation in medicine we are so blessed to enjoy.

Issues of access can be improved, as well as overall cost - but it is not a lack of government control that is creating cost - but rather ever-growing government control that already exists.

-Increase health insurance competition by breaking up the in-state monopoly system currently in place.

-Enhance the HSA program, including medical care vouchers. (Far less costly than what Obama and the liberal Democrats are proposing)

-Initiate real tort reform. The tort reform in Texas has created an influx of doctors, including greater numbers of specialists, which in turn has driven up the overall quality of health care to Texans. It's a no-brainer but liberals and some Republicans with strong ties to the litigation lobby have never given it serious consideration.

These three measures alone would greatly enhance access to health coverage, while maintaining the critical component of profit motive in the healthcare industry that is essential to continued innovations that save lives and enhance overall quality of life...
