The Federal Constitution has 3 Amendments that directly state who is protected and allowed to vote in Federal elections. Granted the original document does not State who can and can not vote. Amendments are part of the Constitution once passed and properly voted on. So there are 3 places in the Constitution that state who can legally vote.

Citizens have the right to vote. But it's become apparent that some want to disassociate the rights from the connected responsibilities that go with it.

Because citizens have a right to vote. We also have a responsibility to provide evidence that we are citizens and are who we are. We also have the responsibility to use that right for the good of ourselves and society.

Stop pretending that rights have no associated responsibilities. If you want to exercise your rights, get off your ass and do what you need to in order to exercise them.

No citizen can be prevented from voting in this nation. And making sure no one commits fraud or claims to be them in order to steal their vote upholds the integrity of the process. It doesn't hurt anyone's rights.

I'm Conservative, I have no problem with you voting Once per Election. The ID is to keep everyone honest. I clearly understand why the DNC may have a problem with that, considering what may be motivating you. We finally fixed it so you can no longer disqualify the Deployed Military Vote, that must be a kick in the stomach for you. Harder for People to cross State Lines to cast Multiple Ballots. Harder for Dead People or Pet's or Fictitious People to Vote, but hey.... deal with it.

As for DMV's closing down, that is a State Issue, I'm in NYC, we have 2 in Queens, neither in well to do areas. You might consider that in Working America, people generally have more than one job to pay for your Entitlist Welfare State, and can't get to DMV's during normal Government Business Hours. It is a good thing that DMV's are becoming more flexible and accommodating. Let's turn that frown into a smile now, and remember not to poke yourselves in the eye in the Voting Booth, and to Limit your Votes to what is the legal limit. :):):)

So it's a punishment to verify who you are? I don't think so. I will be happy to provide transportation to anyone in my area who needs it to get their ID. I volunteer as a driver for both parties every election day. And I get calls from both. My wife votes Absentee, I prefer to visit the polls.......

Now as far as the DMV's having different hours...I know where there are 4 different offices, I've been to all of them for one reason or another. And they all have the same screwed up hours and bitchy people behind the counter. Except for one, they actually believe they are there to help you, but it's new, that will change.........
